OK then...Why is American "democratic" human rights/individualism opposed to restricted behavior, when it is everywhere?

We basically agree that any dictatorship/fascist rule is a no no. But, are we aware that we live in a country that has loads of restrictions. It starts with our parents. Some things bad, some things good. Then school. Be there on time, no talking, #2 pencil, no pulling pig tails, straight in line.... Then high school and college...when do the least amount of "follow the man". :) Then marriage/career where we often fall into a rut because of what we will not allow to happen ( we restrict ourselves based on the authoritarian rules of the game? Do we really have freedom?

Because constitutional rights are not absolute.

ohchr.org: The International Bill of Human Rights states:

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights affirms that the exercise of a person's rights and freedoms may be subject to certain limitations, which must be determined by law, solely for the purpose of securing due recognition of the rights and freedoms of others and of meeting the just requirements of morality, public order and the general welfare in a democratic society.

While you do have to attend school until you're, what?...15 or 16, nobody HAS to marry, get a job, and fall into a rut. Ask anyone at my friendly neighborhood homeless encampment. But of course there are laws; we're a civilized society (for the most-part).

What laws do you want to violate or abolish, there, Paco? 😊

I think many so called "safety" restrictions are too much. Having to do with health also. So many of these restrictions are imposed by authoritarian power. Like hunting and fishing laws, speed limits, dress codes, teaching curriculum's, food choice, etiquette, and rules that make for good appearance.... those are a few.

So, for example, you think this individual was simply 'exercising his rights'? https://www.kcci.com/article/iowa-state-patrol-clocks-young-driver-at-133-mph/38694120

Actually you do not HAVE to attend school. Many parents have always home schooled.

So the guy who decided to hunt ducks in an artificial lake next to several windowed buildings in a business complex in a city, should have been allowed to do so? I can tell you that the shotgun blasts we heard that day scared the crap out of us.

As for dress codes, maybe men enjoy it when a woman with barely covered breasts bends over them at their desk, but I do not. Nor do I appreciate the short skirt, of a women sitting, with no underwear. And don’t get me started on the cracks, OMG all the cracks I’ve had to see. Crack kills. Pull you pants up.

Speed limits, yup those 25 mph limits next to schools should be done away with, we have too many bothersome children still; and on and and on.

YES! So much of the home schooling is motivate by religious reasons. People want to indoctrinate their children with non-secular curriculum's.
Actually, it is very popular in rural areas especially during harvest time and winter. Not to mention city areas with high crime rates and nasty school conditions

I read a study years ago that said that kindergarden children play together much better when they are surrounded by a fence. Without one, they became confused and found it difficult to play/be free. Limits are a necessary part of living freely, but they can also entrap us into being serfs.
