OOPS!! I had a "Senior Moment". What was yours?

We've all had them. Those senior moments when you do something stupid. My latest was when I had to dial a telephone number. I grabbed the remote and "dialed" in the number on the channel buttons. Then if that wasn't bad enough, I put it up to my ear to listen for the ring. It never rang.
Well, what was your latest "senior moment"?

This happened yesterday. I was washing clothes and after I put them in the washer,I also put my cup of coffee in with them. That may not be a senior moment , but that's better than just admitting I'm crazy !

If doing something stupid is considered a ‘senior moment’ then I’ve been having senior moments my entire life

I had one senior moment just this morning... bear with me...

I offered to toast some welsh cakes for my husband for breakfast , because he'd never tasted them before...

I put them in the right side of the 4 slot toaster which is MY side because I like toast a lot less done than him.... but Welsh cakes burn easily because of the fruit in them, so I slotted them into my side which is set on 3 compared to his side set on 5 or 6..

Too busy chatting and not concentrating on what I was doing , and I thought ..oops I better turn down the toaster a little because those welsh cakes might burn black, so there I was, turning down the left side (his side)...which wasn't even on, and I could clearly see the red from the right side elements and it still didn't register!! ...

*DuH* what a nut!!!

Just a couple of hours ago, I put some Tempura shrimp appetizers in the toaster oven and forgot to set the dial to the usual 425 degrees. It was set for toast, the maximum heat. So my
lovely shrimp got burned to a crisp.

I walk into a room, having forgotten why .. this is happening more frequently than I care to admit!

reminds me of a poster I made in another life

I went to the ATM to check my balance. Took the slip and walked away leaving the card in the machine. Remembered and went back. It was gone. Fortunately I found out the next day that the machine pulls it back in. They handed me my card and checked my balance. With the new debit cards tap to
pay someone can use that feature fraudulently. I'm going to have that feature disabled.

When I forget what I went into a room for, I go back to the room where I first had the idea to do that, & then I can remember & go do whatever it was I wanted to do. Almost seems like the thought is still "hanging in the air" or something, I dunno.

I get momentarily confused what day it is when Christmas starts either at beginning or middle of the week.As the days roll by,it still feels like Saturday to me
On my living room wall hangs a clock, the 2nd hand shows the days of the week.I ck it once in awhile to make sure what day it really is Sue

You have no idea (or maybe you do) how very relieved all these senior moments make me!!!! It's so refreshing to know that I am not the only one who does these ridiculous things.

One of the reasons I got a pill minder is that half the time I'd have one of my supplement bottles open, by my drink, and could not for the life of me remember whether I'd just taken one, or was about to.

Yesterday I misplaced my half drunk coffee. It was in the pantry cupboard on the shelf with the flour etc. I don't even remember going INTO the pantry.

I went to the dryer to get an item of clothing that I'd specifically washed along with the load because I needed to wear it. There it was, in the dryer, in the same sodden state as when I'd loaded the thing. I just forgot to turn it on. I've done similar with a load of wash...gone to transfer it to the dryer, but I'd forgotten to start the washer.

As someone's siggy here states...it sucks getting old but it sure beats the alternative!

I'm with you, Ronni. Have done many of the same things. Sometimes I give up on finding my coffee and just brew another cup. The first one generally gets found before it starts growing things.

As for forgetting why I'm going into another room, sometimes I go back to the first room, remember what my mission was, go to the second room and FORGET AGAIN! After remembering yet again, I say whatever it is that I intended out loud to myself, e.g., "Bring in a dozen eggs from the garage refrigerator." That's been effective - at least so far. Then again, I'm still in my sixties...

At least you didn't put it in the dryer.
