Opinion: the most fascinating American man of the 20th Century

I can think of a few tied for 2nd place, but in my view Howard Hughes (1905-1976) was the most fascinating man in 20th Century America.

No one caused more interest from the public or the press than did Hughes. Probably the wealthiest man of his day, he was king in the fields of movie production (RKO), real estate, aeronautics, and medical endowment.

But it was his extreme eccentricity that captivated the public.
