Opinions of UK Royal Family

She admitted herself that she wasn't educationally bright... she failed most of her basic exams at school, and instead was sent off to finishing school in Switzerland where she learned to be a childrens' Nanny.. but she ony ever did that Part-time when she eventually returned to the UK

I did not dislike Diana.. but I'm a realist, and what she did excel in was Manipulation...
Oh! I didn't realize that.

She grew up within the bosum of the royal family. She was born on the Sandringam estate which is the Royals Family home in Norfolk. Her father was a distinguished army officer and a Minor royal, Earl John Spencer. Dianas Grandmother Lady Ruth Fermoy was the Queen Mother's constant companion until death in her 90's... her father was The Queen Mother & King Georges Equerry...

Diana , and her siblings mixed with the royals from being a child.. She knew what the rules were regarding most Aristocratic marriages, and that is that many marriages are not for love but for breeding.. and it's the way of Royals in many cases, as well as the Aristocracy.. to have a breeding mare.. and other women for passion.. and it works both ways,..in many marriages both parties have their lovers, but they stay together as man and wife, usually for ever.. it;s expected and rarely commented on, because there's usually a lot of discretion...

Let's not forget that despite the fact Charles was still in love with the married Camillawhose husband was known in uppar class circles as a lothario) when he married Diana.. he was never unfaithful to her.. until after the birth of their sons.. and after she was first unfaithful to him...

Thanks Hollydolly for the extensive explanation. That’s a lot of information that I had no clue about.

I remember a TV newsperson talking about prince/ count/ lord somebody, and she said, "He's royal, you know". It was like he was a kind of other world species. I'm not sure, but I think "royals" are humans, and they behave just like all humans.
Indeed, Mike Tindall is a man's man, and holds his own in their company. I honestly think William respects him, obviously deferential, but not sycophantic. What you see is what you get.

As they are anointed by God my opinion won't mean much in the great scheme of things, but I do think there are too many of them.

I've all the time in the world for Princess Catherine and the Duchess of Edinburgh but Andrew, and Harry and Megan and the Ferguson woman are well past their sell by date and while the Duke of Norfolk fulfils an important role as Earl Marshall I think the Kents and the Goucesters should be pensioned off

I think if Charles would have done the "right" thing and married some horsey member of the nobility who knew what her "duty" was...to produce an heir and a spare, open orphanages, visit hospitals, dress nicely but not spectacularly, and turn a blind eye to his philandering....the status quo would still be there today.

Instead, he found a sweet young girl and she was thrown head-first into the royal life without a life preserver. That she did what I consider a good job for as long as she did was miraculous.

I think if Chuck and the Royal Rottweiler had been allowed to marry back in the day, a lot of lives would have better.
Did he find a sweet young girl or was he told what his responsibilities were to the crown and the monarchy. King Charles and Queen Camilla are a love story and from what I see are an asset . It sometimes astounds me just how forward thinking King Charles has been . I am sure that he loved Princess Diana when they were first married though it could not have been easy given that she was always getting all the attention. She bought glamour to the monarchy and worked hard , but she was also a person struggling in life like so many.

She was no sweet innocent young girl..she grew up with the monarchy she was born on the Queen's Sandringham estate..one of her sisters was married to the Queen's Secretary,. that's not someone who types letters for a living this man was the closet to the Queen aside from her own family.. he was her advsior and so much more and his wife was Dianas sister. her father was the Equerry to the Queen.. she knew the royal family from the day she was born ....

...she knew and manipluated her way into the life of Charles, it's been said by many including her own family that she grew up saying she ''wanted the top job'',,.. and that meant to be Queen one day... and she new to be abe to marry him she had to be proven to be a Virgin..( I know it's archaic)... so she kept herself pure in the hope she'd get the chance to catch Charles' eye..

Well he'd got to about 30 years old and there was simply no-one sutiable for him to marry to bear heirs.. he was in love with a woman who was not in love with him, and had married someone else.. so with some pressure from his father to either marry Diana and produce some heirs or let her go... he chose the former..

Now Diana young as she was knew precisely how aristocratic marriages work given she was an aristocrat herself and had watched her father & mother both have affairs.. she knew within the royal family.. it's very common for an aristo wife to be her husband's baby bearer, and also to turn a blind eye to any dalliances... it's happened for centuries

She had become in the meantime the world's darling so believing her own publicity.. she decided she would not keep quiet about Charles dalliances.or even her imagined dalliances.. the fact she accused every woman he encountered with having an afair with Charles, including the chidlren's Nanny.. was bordering on the psychopathic.. in fact Charles was not having any affairs.. but Diana was....in fact she was the cause of one marital split and very nearly another after she stalked 2 married men, both of whom had already had an affair with, and one of whom had to call in the police after she stalked him by ringing his home over 300 times..... then she had a string of lovers.. including Barry Manakee , her protection officer, - james hewit.. and more

However the world could see no wrong in the doe eyed shy Di... and she milked it to the nth degree , but behind closed doors she was a completely different person..

She had an eating disorder, first Bullimia then anorexia.. she spent most of her time vomitting .. she was bad tempered with Charles.. she'd embarass him at parties and in company by making snide remarks and storming out .. ... she didn't want him to go out without her and she didn't want him to persue any of his hobbies . She tried to change him into something he wasn;t..his clothing, his hair style, his taste in music... he tried... but it just wasn't him. She tried to tell the world he was an absent father.. that wasn't true... but she always ensured the press were there when she took the boys to the park alone .. but Charles never alerted the press when he took the boys fishing... or hunting

Most men would only endure that for so long.. and it was the case with Charles.. not saying he's any angel.. but it was only after this that he rekindled his affair with his first love. Camilla.. clearly looking for someone who wasn't a harpy...

If I had to choose anyone to blame for this ..I would 100 % blame Camilla..

She was older by 14 years , she knew Diana. she knew how fragile she was she should have kept away from Charles.. at least if and until he got divorced..

To answer the original question, we all need the royal family! What would streaming TV channels do without them? (Upstairs, Downstairs, Downton Abbey, Bridgerton, and probably others I'm not even aware of.) Even Americans love those shows, as there is a kind of fascinating magic in the British royals, which I don't believe is found anywhere else.

..I agree.. and only the British Royal family..there are many royal families around the world, but no-one is interested in them at all...

What do they think about Meghan, Duchess of Sussex ?

I can only go by UK tourists I have met here they do not like her but originally did and most women here in the States do not like her .

To bad as it started out great and what a wedding it was but she bought the wrath upon herself looking for drama , bucking the hierarchy , etc .

I am surprised they are still married .
yes well he burned his boats didn't he, he was the blue eyed prince, could do very little wrong in the eyes of the British public... . now .he's got to stay there with the nagging wife and her mother ..knowing so many people depsise her ..or face utter humiliation by begging to come home...
