Our version of retirement: Living a childhood dream

Gary, put in a pool maybe?
I'll show ya the 'pool' when I'm done with it
Prolly in a couple athree weeks
Well, it's been about that long

The 'pool' is just an overgrown kiddy pool for the grands
But
as the first summer got hotter, two codgers frequented it every afternoon

It's not the most attractive amenity in thr back yard

so

I gussied it up a bit with some cedar boards

Hey, that works for me! Very cool, Gary,,,,,, nice work.

Got a late crop of cabbage and tomatoes started in the hoop house pots

Been a couple days since transplanting
Don't seem to be shocked
The little imbedded cups are full of soy and cooking oil
It draws the earwigs

The tomato seeds are from my lady's sister

Some sorta exotic things that take 60 daysto bear fruit

We'll see

Give me a good ol' early girl any day....
around 45 days

Garden update

My lady 'needs to plant more'

Wants room for eggplant
I.......love.......eggplant

So

I built extensions to the beds

Here's the deal

I can no longer see much

This simple project was a labor of love

It takes three to four times as long to find the pre drilled hole with the screw
Then to mate the screw head to the driver bit
(I won't mention using the saws)

Sorry for any typos

Gary, I can totally relate. It took me 1/2 hour to thread a needle. Then I put the first stitch in wrong and had to cut it out and start all over. Many hugs to you. That button still hasn’t been put on.

(What the heck in the past tense of sew. Autocorrect objects to sewen.)

Jules, I couldn't thread a needle if my life depended on it.
Need these

I remember you mentioning howling wolves nearby. Any bear trouble?
A few wolf sightings in the meadow, and lots of sign and scat.
Never heard their howls
Now, the coyotes, they sung most nights around dusk
It'd give me a bit of a chill, hearing their high pitched wails thru the pines

As far as bear, the blackies moseyed thru in all seasons, even during what should be hibernation

Had one visit several nights in a row, around i or 2 am

Tore up the trash cans, and one time tore the sealed lid off the 5 gal bucket of cracked corn, then laid on his stomach and shoveled it in
He dressed out at just under 400 lbs
Around a year old

Blackies are not all that aggressive, unless it's a mama with cubs

Had a few big cats cruise thru, but not all that often

I so miss all that
