Yes, my grapes always seem to be late starters as well. Then this year, we had a hard frost on May 18th that set them back further. Yours are looking healthy!
Three years ago, when we bought this place, we had a clean palette concerning the back yard.
Quite barren.....rather ugly.
I'm no landscaper
No vision
Up in the mountains, one can carve out a spot in the trees, and make their place look like it fits

I have this patch of weeds
They're still green, so I mow them.....make 'em look like lawn
Thinking about tilling it up and planting corn and pumpkins
Or hiring someone (some poor sucker) to till it
That ground is akin to cement
Couple years ago we planted some fruit trees
Posthole tool didn't faze it
Mattock did some damage, but could only go so deep
Had to pound a long prybar with a sledge hammer to loosen the concrete
Rented an auger
No penetration no matter how I leaned into it
So, gonna look for a guy that tills gardens....

I think your lawn looks fine when mowed.
Maybe you're just sick of mowing.
Growing corn would be fun, but so not much pumpkins, imo. Ok, maybe just a few for Halloween. Other winter squashes are more tasty I think.

Well, it's pretty good exercise, so I sorta look forward to it....sorta
For most our married lives I hunted for our meat
I was the hunter
She was the gardener
I no longer hunt
Just can no longer bring myself to down those magnificent beings (deer/elk)
and we no longer 'need' wild meat

I consider it above me
Hunting is results...now
Gardening takes a different kind of patience.
Year long patience
I do love that she loves it
It's pretty much a main reason we moved to town
Anything that grew up there got eaten by critters or frozen (in July!)

Before we retired, we had a LAWN. Post-retirement, we decided to have a YARD. You can drive on a YARD. LAWNS require constant mowing, weeding, feeding, thatching, raking . . . LAWNS are fussy. With a YARD, you mow whatever green stuff comes up. In the spring, our YARD is a riot of violets, yellow and orange hawkweed, daisies, other pretty stuff. After a while I mow it and it looks pretty much like Gary's.
We're too old for a LAWN. Love our YARD.
