Our version of retirement: Living a childhood dream

Yes living is a risk, not like up here. Moose checking things out in the kitchen window. The ticked off bear that bit off the smaller wheels on the bbq. Still burning wood here, still getting the free exercise.. Three others now live on this lake, they mind their business like I do. Unless one of us needs a hand of course. Nice people, I am lucky. Have no problem with putting my feet up when I please... At 70 I earned it.:devilish:😀😀

The clean up crew is becoming quite frequent
A few days ago we received four bags of steel cut oats from Amazon. One of the bags had a tiny tear in it . . . it was probably okay, but we decided not to eat it. The ground here is still snow covered, so my wife poured the oats into a small tub and set it in the back yard.

Our deer were all over that stuff like white on rice! I shoulda gotten a picture. :D

Had some serious prayers answered today

It pays to be patient

It's comforting to know my Saviour is also my intercessor, cleansing my petitions

Do you have a private place to pray?
I have two
One in the shop
One in the bedroom

Of late, I go there often

I pray for you guys too
There's just so much that's upside down, these days

Gary,, I too was wondering how your eyesight was doing.

Is there anything the doctors can do to help you?

My husband is having some eyesight problems.
He doesn't say much,, then out of the blue he'll mention not being able to see something in 'low light'.

I have to see the ophthalmologist this month for my yearly eye check up.
Am wondering if he will ask about how my husband is doing.
He did do some 'work' on his left eye last Summer.

I've been diagnosed as having AMD
Advanced Macular Degeneration

There is an operation that 'could' possibly slow it down, but no cure
and that operation is a big risk

I have a scant trace of my retina in my right eye
My left eye is a tad better

I never considered losing my eyesight
Maybe getting one poked out from neglecting to put on my safety glasses when using my chain saw
Or losing a digit or limb

But this is an aggravatingly big surprise

Don't know what would be worse;
Not able to go where I'm seeing
or
Not able to see where I'm going

There's worse things in this life

No complaints

For AMD, light is a biggie

I have high power task lights on all my saws
I have to see the blade hit the wood

Bought a dozen tiny lights for strategic places in the house, shop, and autos
I don't go into a store without one
fits well in the pocket

Don't wait!!
AMD can be slowed down if they have something to work with

I had it for quite some time without realizing it
First noticed it took awhile for my eyes to adjust after coming in from the sun
Then....they didn't adjust
I used to enjoy the star filled sky on a clear moonless night, up at the cabin
Then noticed I could no longer look straight on at the stars

Life gets tricky

I hope you aren't getting the 100 mile per hour winds & 10 feet of snow,, weather forecasters are talking about.
When we lived at our mountain cabin, I'd be glued to the forecasts in winter
A big blow would be comin'
The cabin was snug and tight
But hearing those lodgepole trees snap from a100 mph gust would make me a tad uneasy
Life gets a bit precious up there

Took this pic after wunna those big blows
I call it AFTER THE STORM

Makes one grateful for just being
