Russia is a dictatorship. Anyone who stands up to Putin, or God forbid, leads a movement in opposition to him, can count on death under strange circumstances or an involuntary vacation in the Gulag. Russia‘s allies, China and North Korea, are equally dictatorial, share a mutual hatred of the US, and are desirous of expanding their borders and seizing their neighbors. The dreaded US stands in their way. What do those three have in common? A large stockpile of nuclear weapons. A nuclear attack on the US would likely mean an Earth blanketed in radiation and could spell the end of humanity.
Reagan was already out of office by then, Pres. GWH Bush was only 67.
It won't be the end of humanity, but it will cause a lot of very, very serious inconveniences. And lots of deaths.
Let’s hope we don’t have an opportunity to find out who is right.
I get the impression his days are numbered. But you've probably noticed how huge his meeting tables are, and the massive distance he keeps between him and his power people and oligarchs.
Hopefully his own generals will take him out before he launches a nuclear war.
