I agree, but they won't be able to do that tonight. Only the person speaking will have his mic open. There won't be any talking over the other person.
I'm afraid you are in for a dissapointment.

The Rules:
Both agreed to. They include:
- No live audience, which means there will be no applause or boos that could derail the conversation.
- Muted microphones when it’s not their turn to speak.
- No prewritten notes are allowed.
- The only props they’re permitted to have at the lectern are a pen, a pad of paper and a bottle of water.
- They will stand behind their lecterns the entire time, limiting their mobility — with Biden on the right and Trump on the left.
- There will be no opening statements from either candidate.
- Trump will get the final word during closing statements, as determined recently by a coin flip. Biden-Trump presidential debate: Tonight's start time, channels, rules as candidates face off with no audience and muted mics
I feel your pain, Beezer. But can you blame the 350 million minus 2 for not wanting the job? They, and their entire families, are destroyed by slanderous defamation by the media and many more. Right now we are closer to WWIII than ever, so we all have to make ourselves care about this and take it all very seriously...and vote350 million Americans and these two are the best they could come up with?
They are cutting off the other candidates mike while one is speaking. Too bad I would like to see the free for all.I absolutely cannot stand people talking over each other!
I become enraged when people won't stop yammering when they are told to stop talking!
For these reasons I will not be watching; I do not wish to explode.
Lol, I quit drinking 22 days ago, poor timing...in retrospect.I'll be out, but I'll be recording it. I'll watch it when I get home AFTER I take my blood pressure pills......
Too bad I'm not drinking these days....I'm sure a stiff drink would help.
Yes, even I, living in Australia, am familiar with the rules of this debate. I am very surprised that so many Seniors are so disinterested in this opportunity to assess both candidates speaking together on the same platform. The Rules:

I hope not. According to the rules, only 1 mic will be turned on. We'll see.I'm afraid you are in for a dissapointment.
They are supposed to cut off the mic so that doesn't happen. I don't think any of us like to hear the rude yammering.I absolutely cannot stand people talking over each other!

He didn't qualify for this one...They didn't invite Bobby Kennedy ... that would be interesting.
I don't want to hear moderators who are so obviously biased either. They are supposed to cut off the mic so that doesn't happen. I don't think any of us like to hear the rude yammering.
Think about this. CNN is the network with the worst ratings primarily due to on air personalities that the listeners are turning off, and yet they are going to give us fair and unbiased debate. I doubt it seriously. It may finally be the death of a network that simply hasn't been declared dead.CNN has even blocked direct observance of the debate from the press pool. Why is that?
Maybe so with delayed broadcast, CNN can edit anything they chose they don't want the public or press to see?
And don't believe your lying eyes if you witness a cognitive decline of either candidate ... it's a cheap fake
