Protestants attend AI-led church service in Germany

I'd like to find an online AI-led church service with a gospel-style preacher and gospel-style music, but without the references to god or the supernatural. I asked Gemini what it would take to create something like that, and it's doable, but it's pretty involved, and I'd need to become an expert in several AI platforms, which I don't feel like doing.

Maybe I should join some atheist group and see if there's any interest in starting a church like that with fellow atheists.

Why do you want a gospel style preacher? What message are you looking for?

Personally, I prefer someone who examines the scriptures thoughtfully, raising new insights into the ancient writings in terms of our modern day understandings.

Lousy singer though I be, I enjoy adding my voice to the other members of the congregation. I also thrive on the sense of community that comes with being part of a faith community, especially one that is as diverse as mine.

I asked AI itself .....
"What makes a structure a Church?"
Here's it's definition: if you scroll down you will see it say
"Doing the work of God"
And "People taking steps toward Christ and Disciples"

A church structure is defined by its purposeful framework of people, programs, and processes designed to advance a Christian mission, rather than just its physical building. Key elements include ordained leadership (elders/deacons), active congregational participation, shared worship, and a clear, functional organization.

Key Characteristics of a Church Structure
  • Purpose & Mission: The primary function is to facilitate worship, mission-centric ministry, and community.
  • Leadership & Governance: It consists of a hierarchical or organizational structure, often including pastors, elders, or deacons responsible for stewardship and spiritual guidance.
  • Worship & Doctrine: The organization adheres to a recognized creed and established forms of worship.
  • Community & Membership: It provides a space for believers to gather, participate in sacraments or ordinances, and receive pastoral care.
  • Legal Standing: In many contexts, it requires a legal existence (e.g., nonprofit status) and formal internal organization.
  • Adaptability: A healthy structure is often seen as "organic" and "dynamic," capable of changing to better meet its spiritual and community goals.
Whether a traditional building or a house gathering, the core is the community of faith assembled in a structured way to serve its mission.

I'd like to experience the sense of community that church services provide but without all the supernatural elements. The congregation sings along with the pastor and people dance to the music or just listen. They often have a gospel-blues band. That seems like a lot of fun. And the sermons provide inspiration -- especially when delivered with emotion such as from a gospel-style preacher.

All that could be experienced without the need to reference God or the supernatural. Maybe part of it could be based on the Jefferson Bible, which has all the references to God taken out.

That's true, without religion, it's not really a "church." I guess what I'm really looking for is a "congregation" more than a "church."
We have one of those. It is an intentional community. We share incomes, housing, food, you name it. It is almost all community property. We have had up to 15 members and our favorite religion/philosophy/psychology is Buddhist based. I have lived in this community for about 40 years.

We have 23 acres of Missouri forest located about 5 miles from the Missouri river. Come join us. :)

I guess the guy being interviewed (the church organizer) is having difficulty finding a residence pastor, and he himself is not capable of giving a sermon, so he comes up with this AI pastor.

All it takes now to get a big following is have a super confident personality...it doesn't matter if they see this demigod live, or on screen. 99% to 100% is on a screen. AI or a mad dictator, it doesn't matter, because we live in a valueless world right now.

Here's the first sermon for my atheist congregation...

(Imagine Martin Luther King preaching these words...)
My friends, I want to speak to you this morning about a shadow that is lengthening across the face of our modern world. It is not the shadow of war, though our world is weary of conflict. It is not the shadow of poverty, though millions still languish on a lonely island of want in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. It is a quiet, creeping sickness of the spirit—the crisis of loneliness.

We have built for ourselves a "World House," as I have called it before. We have shrunk the globe. We have bridged the oceans and soared into the heavens. Through the marvels of our technology, we have made the world a neighborhood. But, my friends, we have failed to make it a brotherhood.

There is a tragic irony in our predicament. We are more "connected" by wires and waves than any generation in the history of man, yet we are more estranged from our neighbor than ever before. We suffer from a "poverty of the soul" that no bank account can cure. We are crowded together in great teeming cities, jostling against one another on busy sidewalks, yet we remain isolated islands of ego, locked in the airtight cages of our own concerns.

You see, loneliness is not merely the absence of people; it is the absence of purposeful connection. It is the gnawing feeling that one is "a nobody" in a world of "somebodies." It is the result of a society that has traded the I-Thou relationship for the I-It relationship—where we view our brothers and sisters as tools to be used or obstacles to be cleared, rather than as children of nature to be cherished.

But let us not despair. The antidote to loneliness is the recognition of our Inescapable Network of Mutuality. We must realize that I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be, and you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of all reality.

We must move from the "me" to the "we." We must rediscover the power of Agape—that overflowing love which seeks nothing in return. It is a love that reaches out not because the neighbor is likable, but because the neighbor is a human being, woven into the same garment of destiny.
When we begin to live for something greater than ourselves—when we stand up for justice, when we feed the hungry, when we simply take the time to look a stranger in the eye and say, "I see you, and you matter"—the walls of isolation begin to crumble.

Let us rise up from the dark valley of loneliness to the sunlit path of Beloved Community. Let us realize that we are not alone, for we walk together. And in that togetherness, we shall find the strength to transform the jangling discords of our isolation into a beautiful symphony of togetherness.
