Quirks. We all have them.

Lately I haven’t been counting the stairs as I go down to the basement. I have no idea why I even did this.

Even with poor vision I can spot an askew wall hanging.

Signs with incorrect spellings or grammar. There’s a whiteboard in a thrift store that says that stationary is discounted that day. I never say anything; just shudder.

I rib my spouse no end about how he eats his food. If I serve everything in a neat arrangement on a plate, such as vegetables sitting next to the steak, sitting next to the rice...he cuts it all up and mixes everything all together.

If it's a stew or mixed summer salad, he separates everything out into little piles, and eats the stuff he likes least first, then on to the next heap, leaving his favorite ingredient for last.

So funny to watch him - I guess he never got to play with his food when he was a kid?!?

I am trying to think of a "quirk" but everything I do, is just me so I don't know if it's a quirk or not. I know when I worked in retail and had to close up the shops, I always tapped the door with a letter of the alphabet so I would remember I had locked it for the night, and not suddenly wake up and worry about it at 4:30am!

i can't stand to have any unread emails in my inbox. I don't check it all the time but whenever I do check it I swipe to delete emails I am not interested and read the ones I need to read. I hear people who say they have 900 unread emails and I shudder inside.

I never let the gas in my vehicle get below the 1/4 mark but I don't think I am unique with that one.

I have been told I roll my eyes a lot which is probably true but it is not intentional on my part. I probably need to work on that one.

I also attend to my emails several times a day. Once I read them, I either take care of the business mentioned, or respond to friends, then mostly delete the mail. I have a girlfriend who has a couple hundred floating in her inbox for years. It would make me crazy, like unfinished business. Just let it go! You will get more tomorrow.

Quirks. We all have them.

I call mine regimens

Things need to be where they need to be
Cold travel mug of water at the bedside
Pens, reading glasses placed where often needed

Tools where they go (is a must)

There's other stuff like that

A few decades ago, I found myself counting steps
and they had to come out even

Told myself to knock it off

I don't think that was a quirk
I think it was blatant OCD

Like @MarkinPhx said, I am a stickler for reading my emails. I love that I receive so few emails now that I'm retired. I used to receive hundreds per day when I was working. I was always the only one working on a plane when others were watching movies.

One of my other quirks is that my cars have always had to be immaculate inside and out, unless we've gone through days of rain. The interior would still be pristine. It's weird, since some of the furniture in our house gets dusty and it takes weeks for me to clean it. My parents were OCD, and I think my car is the only place I indulge myself.

My other quirk is that I sleep with the sheets over my head at night. It has always been this way. I think it shuts out the light and the noise, but it may be a way of feeling "protected".

In any case, I'm fine with my quirks and they haven't disrupted my life.

I work with the food on my plate so that I have an even number of bites of each item, so that by the time I’m done, the last bite for example is also the last piece of the steak, potato and veggie.

I count my supplements as I put them in my pill minder for the next two weeks. The count is always going to be the same…14 pills for each of the dozen supplements. Still I count. Every time.

I keep a fresh bottle of water by my bed at night. If I should forget to bring it in with me I’ll get out of bed to go get it, even though over half the time I never wake up to have a drink.

I am chapstick-obsessive and opinionated. The only one I’ll use is Burt’s Bees vitamin E and peppermint. I have Burt’s Bees everywhere. In the kitchen by the sink. Next to the chairs I sit in, in both the den and the living room. By my bed. In my makeup bag. In my purse. In my car. And one that sits in my dresser which I slip into my pocket when I'm wearing anything that has pockets. And I always have 3-4 spares in my nightstand

There are more but I’ll shut up now. You?
Me too with the food and the water. LOL!
I have one of those VapoInhalers by the bed in case my nose gets stuffed up. I inhale a couple times and hang on to it and fall asleep and then later I lose it in the bed. LMAO!

I have been told I have a very expressive face, in that I don't hide how I feel. It isn't intentional, and I don't mean to cause any upset, but if I look bored or fed up, or if someone irritates me, then it's obvious :( On the plus side though, it means I can't lie, and if I am happy, then it shows too, so it's all good 👍

I think that is a good thing, to me an expressive face is both more interesting and more attractive!
