I've tried to share my artwork here on SF, like from rough sketches to a finished painting, but the sketches don't photograph well at all, partly bc my phone has a cheap camera, partly bc I always sketch with pencil, and mostly bc I'm just not very good at photography....I don't know how to set up good lighting and stuff. Ah well, no biggie.

Anyway, this is a sketch of Michelle. The finished painting photographed nicely (pretty sure I posted it somewhere), but this is the best pic I could get of the first rough sketch.

The look of February
Cut grass today. High today 77, yep ... seventy-seven ... February
Nothing much ever changes except the color of the grass

I'm sure if anyone had those Bottle ornaments out front here ( not specifically my area ).. there would be plenty pot shots taken of them.. you're lucky to still have them in one piece...:D

Hi Naturally.
Are those blue bottle things, ornaments you made yourself? I really like the blue bottles. That’s a nice way to show them off as well as having some cool outdoor decor that stands out.

Thanks Patty :)
Growing up I would see bottle trees in rural areas on mostly older black owned properties here in Alabama. While today, some bottle trees are formed by people as garden features, using various color bottles, all I ever saw as a child were trees with ONLY blue bottles. So in the "spirit" of what I have personal experience with, I only use blue bottles here at the blue bottle cottage.

For 17yrs I've had the blue bottle tree and hanging blue bottle bush since buying this home. They have served me well and no one messes with them.

Here are some links to the fascinating history and explanation of bottle trees ...

There is a Hoodoo tradition that says the bottle tree should be created at a crossroads ... corner of Walk 'n Don't Walk maybe ;)

Oh. There’s a story that goes with it. Fabulous. Your story gave me goosebumps.

When I was a child I used to collect blue coloured polished glass on the beach at our cottage. It was so fun finding little pieces. They were so pretty.

Do you have white l.e.d. Lights so they shine at night?

Patty, I don't normally light the house outside at night unless I'm going somewhere and then it's only a porch light ... but a string of led lights is an idea :)

where do they find all those blue bottles????
It has been many years but I ordered them by the case from a wine supply outfit online.
Then I found a slightly larger blue bottle on ebay to place as the very top bottle on the tree.

@Naturally .. we see those blue bottle trees in smaller country towns that we visit often. I think they sell water in those bottles here.
Very  :)

L.e.d. Lights inside would look awesome. The only con is that they might keep you awake at night depending on your curtains / blinds.

If you do decide to do it see if you can take a night time pic. I think it would look magical. Then again, you could use a timer.

I did notice the difference size bottle. They are very cool looking.

Well light in the bottles may help draw evil spirits in and then when the sun comes up, the evil spirits will be destroyed as there is no escaping the blue bottles ;)

On the other hand, whatever I've been doing seems to be working ... no evil spirits around here

Yeah! I thought of that afterwards. I’m thinking about our Christmas lights. We put blue led lights around our veranda and leave them on all night. They were bright and kept me up at times. It’s a relatively new house.

Spooky story about evil. 👿
