Wow! I love flowers and the first signs of them coming up makes my day. Thank you for sharing your pictures! Especially the one with you in it!!!!

Today it is supposed to rain and be cooler than the past few days. I will take a day to relax a bit. Not do as much though I want to dust the dressers. Even though there are cooler days forecast I am not blocking up the windows again. It lifts my mood so much when it is light in here. My windows are quite large, tall, and the sun still comes in but not like it does when the whole window has sun coming in.

Yesterday I met my friend in the park. It was nice talking and watching the traffic and people. People were out and about. Then we would walk a lap or two around the park and sit back down. She is slower than me and uses a walker also. I tend to walk faster if I am doing it for exercise.

I am going to still do my walks around the park in the mornings by myself because I consider that exercise. I walk in the park behind the library when I am by myself because it is bigger and has lots of flower beds throughout. Most of the time I walk a lap around it and will sit for a few minutes if I need to but keep going. Meeting my friend is more social and I enjoy my time with her.

I tried to play DVDs in the television because it has a built in DVD player. I have always struggled with using it because it is so technical and you have to use the remote and it has too many buttons. The last time I tried to play a DVD it kept stopping and going back to the menu. So I bought a portable one and got it yesterday. It played the DVDs as soon as I had it plugged in. It has a remote but I won't be using that. It is about the size of a laptop, 14" screen I think.

I put it on my walker and sat in the chair and watched 2 DVDs yesterday. I am excited! I have a lot of DVDs and there are some I have never seen. This player can be connected to the television if I wanted to watch there but I won't be doing that. This is the way I want it. Simple. Easy to use. The battery is rechargeable so it does not have to be plugged in. They say it will go 3-4 hours on a charge.

Now that I have this, I am thinking of walking to the thrift store and checking out how much they charge for DVDs. Next time the internet goes out..........I won't care!

Monday has always been my favorite day of the week. I think it is because I make a list of everything I have to do for the new week. Even living here (in a small studio apartment) I have things I must do. It is easy to just sit back and not do anything except the bare essentials. And I admit it, I do that at times. But I really feel better as I cross things to do off my list.

I have a lot to do since I am helping my son to get moved in here. His move in date is the 3rd, the day his SS check comes. Today I am downloading the application for an air conditioner through HEAP. He will need one quickly because his apartment is on the 3rd floor and he gets hot rather quickly. HEAP will cover the whole cost plus installation (you can't put it in yourself or they won't pay for it). I was thinking of replacing mine with a new one and now I see I would qualify for this also.

Have a good day everyone!

Good luck with getting your son's apartment set up.

Does the apartment come furnished with appliances, bed, carpeting?

Sorry to be asking so many questions ,it's been a long time since I've been in senior apartments.
You can ask me whatever and however many questions you have. Love your interest!

His apartment has all appliances and carpeting. It is like all the apartments here set up for handicap just in case someone is disabled and/or uses a wheelchair or walker. He doesn't need it now but if he ever needs it will have it. We are buying him a new bed and he will need a new chair and table. After that he can slowly get what he wants or needs.

Don't know what you have as thrift , Goodwill, antiques stores.
But if I were start furnishing a room, I'd look first in those stores.

Seems I am seeing some older but not antique pieces in those places.

And yes I've thought,,O,, if I didn't have that dresser or desk,, I'd buy it.

I have a drop leaf desk that my father made,,, recently found it in newer oak but same style.
SIGH,,,,,,,,I really like wood left natural,,not painted.

I have a thrift store within walking distance. But I am afraid to bring in a bed from a thrift store. Our manager told us to try not to buy stuff from thrift stores that may have bed bugs in them. Beds is a big thing that would have them. So getting a new one to be safer.

I like thrift stores, garage sales and estate sales. That said I would never buy anything like a bed or soft furniture. I have puchased many solid wood pieces that I love but could not afford. Lets be honest the wood furniture of today is often not real solid wood. I prefer older well taken care of pieces.

I woke up to snow again this morning. First Day of Spring! How can that be? I knew March can be tricky. The year I moved here 2018 we had a huge amount of snow in March. At least I don't have to go anywhere in it. My friend and I was planning on taking the bus to Walmart on Friday. We can still do that regardless of the weather. I might not be able to wait till then to get groceries because Rabbit is almost out of spring mix and I am almost out of cream. Can't run out of cream! For my coffee, of course.

Today I am making more hard boiled eggs and more cream cheese olive dip. Even though I do not snack at all and these are considered snacks for keto, I use them as sides for my meals. I need to increase my protein and fats. So I am tracking it for this week again just to watch the protein amount. I never have to track carbs because that is automatic for me now.

One of the problems I kept having was when I would feel down about something I would eat something I should not.........like ice cream or popcorn. That would take weeks to get out of my system. I would feel horrible and not want to do anything for days after I ate that. Must be the sugar is the culprit in the ice cream or the fake ingredients they add to ice cream. The popcorn, of course, is a grain and my body cannot take them either. Once you get really "into" keto though, you do not like the sweet taste of things.

Lately, I started pouring Zevia into a cup with the equal amount of unflavored seltzer. Much better! I use the gingerale flavor for when I don't feel so hot. So I keep it around. Keto Chow has been the perfect replacement for ice cream though. It is way better than any no sugar or low carb ice cream you can buy in the store. I gave my manager a couple of packages and she ordered it off their site because her and her husband loved it. A replacement meal so you can eat the whole container for a meal which I do.

Today my friend might be picking me up to go to Walmart. Not sure because the weather is iffy. Dark cloud over my building and the forecast said rain and maybe snow. So will see what happens. I don't want her to drive up here if the weather is bad. If she can't come I will order groceries online.

So I have had to turn my heat up a notch or so because I took all the stuff I had blocking my windows down. I am not blocking them again. I have enjoyed the sun coming in the whole window and so has Rabbit. I am just anxious to have nice weather every day. I want to get out to the parks and other places that I can walk to.

My other friend who lives downstairs and I are planning on walking to the YMCA as soon as we can. I think I can walk that far if we take a break and sit on our walkers along the way. I want to see how much it cost to join and if we qualify for their discount program. I would like to use the pool and exercise machines. That would be perfect for me. I have dumbbells that I use for my arms here but forget to use them as much as I should.

Yesterday we canceled our plans due to the weather. I did not want my friend have to drive in the snow to come here. So she is coming Saturday if the weather is good. I hope so because she is bringing me two dozen eggs. Her daughter had 109 eggs in her refrigerator because her chickens have been laying like crazy!

Tomorrow, (as long as we don't have a blizzard, if it snows that is okay) my other friend (who lives downstairs) and I are going to take the bus to Walmart. I don't really need to go because I had a delivery yesterday from Walmart but I like taking the bus and shopping with my friend. A day out!
Yesterday I had to order some things I was out of.....Rabbit's food!

Today I woke up to this..............

I used to get up about three every morning. Now for some reason, I am sleeping later. I think the culprit is the television and YouTube. I end up watching videos so stay up later. This morning I got up at four because I knew I had things to do. My friend, who lives in the apartment underneath mine and I are planning on taking the bus to Walmart today.

I will call the bus office and make sure of the time they are stopping at our building. Last time we stood out in the cold for a good 45 minutes or longer. Today it is really cold, snowy and windy. The bus will pull up to the front stairs though and we can wait inside (unheated area). I just want them to know someone will be waiting for them.

It is so funny to me that taking the bus to Walmart was on my list of things I wanted to do for so long and just recently I started doing it. There is nothing to it. Easy to do. It was the same with getting a library card and going to a show in the theater (that is in the other half of the building I live in). I have done all three now. All this past year.

Now the next thing is to walk to the YMCA to inquire about joining and if we qualify for their discount program. I want to use the pool and the exercise machines. It is within walking distance so even if I can't get my mobility chair working anytime soon I could still get there. Also the bus is an option even for short distances.

Have a good day! Good for you accomplishing things you want to do in the community! I need to take a lesson.

Good luck on your Wal-Mart adventure today. I know what you mean about not doing something that once you do it you wonder why you waited so long to do it! :) My can be as simple as changing a sweater I have had on for a few days. I'll just wait. Other things are more important. I have my routines that become habit like if I am not paying attention. There is something to be said for a comfortable kind of laziness too. :)

Wow, Kat! I love your "go get 'um" attitude! I'm happy to hear that you are doing more, and more things around town. There are so many things to enjoy!

Thank you everyone for the positive vibes for my day out!

I am back now and it was a good trip. There were three other people on the bus besides us and the driver. We all got off at Walmart (well, not the driver). So we had about an hour and a half to shop and the same bus picked us up at noon. He was right on the dot. I figure the first people who get on the bus are the last ones off as it follows a certain route. Even if no one is outside waiting for the bus, it will pull up to the doors and wait a few minutes to see if anyone comes out. Not many things cost fifty cents these days but that is what I paid each way.

Sounds like fun! So glad you did it!
