It is so weird, I am going through all my files. Right now I am onto the Social Security ones. One is for regular SS which I started getting in 2014 when I turned 62. The other file is for SSI which I started getting when I moved here in 2018 because my income was so low. In 2021 SS sent me a direct deposit payment of $12. because they said one of my first checks was short and they owed that to me. Okay, thank you.
Then in 2021, dated one day after I received that letter from SS, SSI sends me a letter that they are cutting my check from them because SS sent me that $12. ..............I was not even getting SSI in 2014. But I had to pay it back. Then I get another letter from them a couple of weeks later saying they are increasing my future checks because SS hadn't changed my check amount. Plus they said if any part of that overpayment of $12. had been saved I have to report it to them because I cannot have more than $2000. in my account!
Oh yeah, I saved that $12 and added to my stash of $2000. People who work in these government jobs are so in another world. I see it in all the paperwork they send that is unnecessary. They waste money on pages of papers that nobody even looks at. Sometimes they send two copiess of everything, one in Spanish as well as English. They never return phone calls so no sense leaving messages. Good thing I live close to the county office building but there is talk of moving it in the future while they demolish it and rebuild it.
