The Lysenko Brothers: All Ten Served in the Second World War and All Ten Returned Home

Hailing from the small Ukrainian village of Brovakhy, these ten brothers were sent to the frontlines during the Second World War.

In a rare and extraordinary outcome, all ten returned home alive, defying the odds of a war that claimed millions of lives.

This image shows Carole Lombard's scar from a horrific auto accident when she was 17. It caused significant damage to her cheek, lip and eye and she nearly died. Thanks to the relatively new procedure of plastic surgery, Carole’s appearance, and career, were saved, though a scar on her left cheek remained noticeable without makeup.

A man charges his AMC Gremlin in Seattle, Washington in 1973.

Many who grew up in the 70s remember this car as a lemon. But City Light built an electric prototype in 1973 that could be charged for 25 cents per hour — which sounded sweet during an oil crisis. It ran on six-volt batteries and topped out at 50 mph.

@Mizmo Good catch ! I usually try and do some research before posting but I didn't this time. From what I can tell, this is the original photo .

On May 27, 1930, the Chrysler Building opened to the public and was the tallest building in the world until the Empire State Building surpassed it in 1931. Here we see LIFE photographer Margaret Bourke-White focusing her camera perched atop a gargoyle on the Chrysler Building in 1935.

Yes I have seen that one and there is good access to the position she is in so quite believable
She was quite something in her day.

In the other picture I thought..how could she walk along that ridge wth those heels on her boots
One big sneeze and over she would golaff hand.jpg

There is not enough money in the world to convince me to perch myself like she did for that shot.
