Rethinking Forum/Social Media

yes that's a genune mistake but when you have someone you have on ignore doing it...you know they're doing it on purpose
Most people don't get a sense that they have been placed on ignore, and by far most don't announce that they have put someone on ignore anyway. So what does "...they're doing it on purpose" mean

I think you can't take forums and social media seriously. You are not going to change anyone's mind by harping on a subject. Once you said your piece, anymore and you're just repeating yourself. Plus some people you can't argue with. There is always somebody who is totally convinced that in a CIA plot Abraham Lincoln, Hitler and Elvis are still alive and working the evening shift at a McDonalds in Wisconsin.
You just can't take this stuff too seriously.

Well that seems silly! Ignored should mean zero exposure. lol

Mostly, a person reacting with emoji’s, even ‘likes’ doesn't know they've been ignored. Since people generally don’t announce when they have put someone on ignore, the person reacting might just be expressing themselves naturally. In their mind, they are just responding to a post the same way they would for anyone else, unaware that it’s even being noticed by someone who has actively avoided them.

For someone to then say someone else is leaving emoji’s on purpose seems a bit of a strange and bizarre statement, unless someone then sees those imoji reactions assuming malice or some kind of jab, but from the other person's perspective, it's just a regular response from someone who might not know the dynamics at play.

Well he is alive, or at least in the 80s, as he was working in England at the time! There was a song written about it:

 Hmmm.... I heard an island in the South Pacific along with JFK, Amelia Earhart, and Bruce Lee. Bet they're all great friends by now. There must be some serious fountain of youth stuff going on there... Amelia would be 127 by now. Gotta love conspiracies put forth before the "putter" takes a moment to don their thinking cap.

Seriously questioning being on forums (not just this one) and social media. I hadn't been active on any sites in several years. During my time away what seems to be 'acceptable' has changed drastically. Personal attacks, rudeness, stalking an individual's posts & comments to mock or berate them. The list goes on.

Am I the only one that feels this way? I doubt it.
I've been using online forums since the late 90s, there has always been snarky rude troll-like people that want to force their opinions on others. A person can choose to engage...or not. What anybody says online does not have to be challenged, and there's no end to the rebuttals from those pushing their own agenda.

Definitely not take seriously. It's just a shame that some people's rudeness makes it a less fun site

Is it really anyone's place to suggest Whosoever be the one to leave the forum for awhile and find other ways to fill her time as someone suggested here? I understand your sentiment there but clearly there are problematic members who should be the ones to leave and find other ways to fill their time! The ones who feel entitled to be rude and arrogant, try controlling good kind members by making them uncomfortable for being themselves.

I'm not talking about politics...that's a no here via Matrix...for good reason. But Faith based answers in discussions makes some people's skin crawl and cause them to feel entitled to bully a person-of-faith right out the door. Calling them names like Proselytizers when they aren't trying to change anyones mind...they're just posting their faith-based answers from who they are. Silencing them is arrogant.

Whosoever is an awesome member and everyone should encourage her to stay. She would be a great loss here. As are many members of faith who have been silenced and left or afraid to speak for fear of losing "friends". It would be a nicer forum if the "entitled" would leave. But they won't, they think a discussion is a debate to win no matter how ugly and gather their clique for support.

Thank you for saying that, Lara. :)

Actually, I can confirm that's true. It was the chippie in Peckham, just round the corner from where Delboy lived. Elvis asked me if I wanted a hunk of burning love and I said "No, thanks mate, just a saveloy and chips". (y)

No... You have got that wrong. There was one occasion when I had my hair cut by Elvis.

He owns a family-run barbershop in the Midlands. I visited his barbershop when I was staying with a friend for the weekend in another city. My friend recommended him to me. I kid ye not. I walked out of the barbers with a 'short back and sides' and a substantial quiff!

Here he is. He's clearly in heavy makeup, with him being 90 years old and all. Elvis the barber, who also goes by the name of Gordon Hendricks, for incognito purposes:

I think as a general response suggesting someone take a break if they are not enjoying the forum ( or any other activity) is good advice.
That isnt personal but general advice to anyone not enjoying something.

That's exactly what they want you to think.
