Hello, this is my first time on a forum and I'm not sure what to say yet but look forward to connecting and communicating.
I'm retired, and have been a bit isolated for the past few years but would like be more social and make friends.

The way to do it is to find a topic that interests you... and just jump in with a comment.. even if it's telling someone you agree with them... Pretty soon you will be in the middle of a conversation. Dont' be afraid to put your two cents in... Your two cents is worth just as much as another's two cents..

Greetings Cookie, and welcome to the forum!

Hi Quicksilver - thanks for the encouragement - two cents worth coming right up - it's all about being confident and real - looking forward.:smile-new:

Hi Cookie, there's every topic you can think of, and then some. But most of us have a good sense oh humor, and it can get pretty funny at times too. So I'm sure you'll be a regular real soon.

Greetings & Welcome Cookie. I promise to have a positive influence on you.

Welcome Cookie,

I think you'll like it here, it's helped me out of isolation, I have done that too, mostly because of health and finances, but things are easier when I talk with others. Lots of folks understand here;) Denise

Hello, well, by the King, you must mean Elvis - yes, I was enthralled when I saw him him on Ed Sullivan when I was a kid, and of course went to many many movies he was in. He was one cool dude. What can I say, what can anyone say? He will always be with us in spirit and his music is legendary.

Hi denise, thanks for the welcome - I look forward many posts on this forum, so far it's been great and seems like a friendly place. My isolation wasn't really bothering me much until my cat died this summer, then I became depressed and lonely. My bad knees had been keeping me housebound and in a rut. Now I want to get out more and be with people, but I have lost many of my connections after I retired. I'm slowly working on more exercise and meeting people again. Yes, it's much better with people in the picture. Irene

Hello, thanks for welcome,
That is a beautiful quote. I had a cat in my life for many years and she was all the company I needed. Now that she is gone, I turn again to people to share my time. It is getting better.

Hi Irene, you mention your kitty and I can totally relate on that score! Right now my Ziggy is standing on the back of the couch behind me and bonking me on the head while he purrs and tries to get my attention. Silly kitty and now he's trying to crawl down my shoulder to situate himself right in front of my screen! Remember how they used to lay on the paper while you tried to give it a read....they're more high tech now and try to help control the mouse! Anyway, if you're feeling lonely, I think you came to the right place. Since I joined a few weeks ago, I've found that there's almost always someone hanging around here and they're a pretty nice bunch.

And if that's not enough company still for you, maybe think about adopting a lovable older cat. Past that cute but annoying kitten stage and just ready to soak up your cuddles? Talk to you again sometime I'm sure.
