A large number of service members and military veterans who booked hotel rooms for the Army-Navy football game at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts later this fall are having their reservations canceled in order to house migrant families and illegal aliens.

To put it bluntly, people who are or have served the United States are being kicked to the curb for people who illegally made their way into the country.

Joe Battenfeld of the Boston Herold was the first to report the incredibly unpatriotic story after talking with a travel agent who handled hotel bookings for military families.

Hotel Rooms Booked By Army-Navy Fans And Service Members Reportedly Being Taken By Massachusetts To House Migrants

Navy is retiring and scrapping two nuclear powered aircraft carriers. Why not instead house illegals on them temporarily? Lots of bunks below decks and lots of room on the hangar deck for individual/family tents. It's a floating city with everything a person needs to meet basic needs. Also isolates them from the general populace until properly processed.

Oh, and an ideal platform to transport the illegals back to whence they came.

The average social security check is about $1700 per month. The illegal immigrants who have never contributed dime one to the country gets $2200 per month. Is that fair?

$2200/month for illegals - got a source for that stat?

It's probably more than that when you add in free medical, prescriptions & dental. This is all at the tax payers expense.

There are so many citizens in this country who need the help themselves that is being given away to illegal aliens for nothing more than entering this country illegally.

We should be helping our own who are working now, & those who worked for their retirement, trying to make ends meet.

It's a shame that incentives are being to given to a lot of people (includes some citizens who refuse to work) to take money they haven't earned.

Nice rant, but no source for the $2200/month?

Don't know if FAIR research is fair but research & posting the dollar amounts of the money spent from tax payers taxes seems reasonable. Not the $2,200.00 amount but I'm sure a lot of people surviving on only Social Security would like a $957.00 a month boost in their monthly checks. I'm even more certain couples would love to get $8,776 annually for a child they have.

Report by FAIR Research | March 2023

Key Highlights
At the start of 2023, the net cost of illegal immigration for the United States – at the federal, state, and local levels – was at least $150.7 billion.
FAIR arrived at this number by subtracting the tax revenue paid by illegal aliens – just under $32 billion – from the gross negative economic impact of illegal immigration, $182 billion.
In 2017, the estimated net cost of illegal migration was approximately $116 billion. In just 5 years, the cost to Americans has increased by nearly $35 billion.
Illegal immigration costs each American taxpayer $1,156 per year ($957 after factoring in taxes paid by illegal aliens).
Each illegal alien or U.S.-born child of illegal aliens costs the U.S. $8,776 annually.
Evidence shows that tax payments by illegal aliens cover only around a sixth of the costs they create at all levels in this country.
A large percentage of illegal aliens who work in the underground economy frequently avoid paying any income tax at all.
Many illegal aliens actually receive a net cash profit through refundable tax credit programs.

FAIR leaders have ties to white supremacist groups and eugenicists and have made many racist statements. Its advertisements have been rejected because of racist content. FAIR’s founder, the late John Tanton, has expressed his wish that America remain a majority-white population: a goal to be achieved, presumably, by limiting the number of nonwhites who enter the country. One of the group’s main goals is upending the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, which ended a decades-long, racist quota system that limited immigration mostly to northern Europeans. FAIR President Dan Stein has called the Act a “mistake.”

IN THEIR OWN WORDS

“Immigrants don’t come all church-loving, freedom-loving, God-fearing … Many of them hate America, hate everything that the United States stands for. Talk to some of these Central Americans.” – FAIR President Dan Stein, interviewed by Tucker Carlson, Oct. 2, 1997

“Do we leave it to individuals to decide that they are the intelligent ones who should have more kids? And more troublesome, what about the less intelligent, who logically should have less? Who is going to break the bad news [to less intelligent individuals], and how will it be implemented?” – John Tanton, letter to eugenicist Robert K. Graham (now deceased), Sept. 18, 1996

“I blame ninety-eight percent of responsibility for this country’s immigration crisis on Ted Kennedy and his political allies, who decided some time back in 1958, earlier perhaps, that immigration was a great way to retaliate against Anglo-Saxon dominance and hubris, and the immigration laws from the 1920s were just this symbol of that, and it’s a form of revengism, or revenge, that these forces continue to push the immigration policy that they know full well are [sic] creating chaos and will continue to create chaos down the line.” – FAIR President Dan Stein, "Oral History of the Federation for American Immigration Reform," interview of Dan Stein by John Tanton, August 1994

“I’ve come to the point of view that for European-American society and culture to persist requires a European-American majority, and a clear one at that.” – John Tanton, letter to eugenicist and ecology professor Garrett Hardin (now deceased), Dec. 10, 1993

“As Whites see their power and control over their lives declining, will they simply go quietly into the night? Or will there be an explosion?” – FAIR founder and board member John Tanton, Oct. 10, 1986

Something must be off with me tonight, I'm not seeing eye to eye with anyone. Perhaps I need to start drinking again. :D

I see a lot of predictable xenophobia, and too little perspective. For me - and I'm truly sorry if I offend anyone - I don't see how this incident justifies the idea that "people who are or have served the United States are being kicked to the curb". For me, that's a vast over-reaction.

At worst - some vets are now unable to attend a football match. Now I'm sure it's upsetting, and I know it's a tradition, but on the other hand, there are real human beings who need real help and a roof over their head. Balancing the two, I think they're doing the right thing. Football fans take a backseat to the needy.

As I understand it, immigrants are only "illegal" once they have been through the process and denied entry to the US. While they're going through the process they're not "illegal", they're just plain immigrants. The entire globe has this issue right now, but that's not a topic for this thread.

There will be another Army v. Navy football game next year.

It's not xenophobia. It's about respecting the laws of a nation.

We have laws in this country & these illegal aliens have chosen to break a federal law by coming into this country by crossing the border anywhere they want to. They are not coming through a port of entry with proper documents. Just because they have been "processed" after being caught crossing at a non-port of entry doesn't make them an immigrant. They have been given a court date which many will not ever show up to.

This is wrong for anyone to do this in ANY country, not just here.

When these people are "processed", it doesn't include a proper background check on them as those take time to do. Because of the lack of a proper background check, there is no way to confirm they are who they say they are. There is no way to keep track of them once they are released to go who knows where. The number of criminals coming into this country is usually found out after they have broken other laws.

Here is one instance where one of these people killed a little boy on the first day of school & injured others.

This illegal immigration is becoming a bigger problem with every passing day. I'm glad to see that many of them are being bussed to cities well away from the border, instead of just leaving the people of Texas to deal with them. Perhaps if these illegals begin to create serious problems in NYC, Chicago, San Francisco, etc., the people and politicians in those "sanctuary" areas will begin to support stronger border controls.

Thanks for stepping in. Nothing is off with you at all. People who are risking their lives to come to this country to escape an oppressive government and drug cartels who have threatened to kill their families are deserving of a roof over their heads. Most that I see on even the most biased news channels are families with young children, not thugs who are looking to destroy this country.

And yes, the statement that "people who are or have served the United States are being kicked to the curb" seems like a true First World Problem comment. If someone closes a couple of Hilton hotels to house them I will still have plenty of options when I travel. And if one football game is missed, it's not the end of the world.

There are still many job openings in this country and I'm sure, once the probation time has passed, many of these migrants will take the jobs that those born in the US will not take because they think are beneath them. Since some people who post here don't seem to provide any info to back up their statements, here is a link to what New York State is doing to trained skilled immigrants.

Hello, Lilac. I know this is an emotive subject and will tread carefully.

The better term for this group of people is "Asylum Seekers", not illegal immigrants. There are laws in place to deal with them. While it would be ideal for them to all turn up at the same place and to nicely get in line with all their certified paperwork, this does not represent the real world. Keep in mind, this isn't a US problem, it is occurring in all of the free world at the moment.

There are indeed holes in the processes today. It is estimated there are 11 million illegal immigrants in the US. Background checks today only go as far as government databases and watch lists for individuals. Checks take time, and money. You're also hoping that information in these databases is up to date. I don't know what you define as a "proper background test". I know I had both criminal and financial background checks to work in the US.

I also think cherry picking a news story and using it to justify your cause is not useful. Crime is crime, and criminals should be held to account. The vast majority of crimes in the US are done by US citizens. Bad people do bad things. Desperate people do desperate things. I could link to news stories of Americans doing horrid crimes, but that kind of tit-for-tat isn't useful, imo.

Which brings me to three points. I lived in Texas for a few years, and illegal immigrants were used for all kinds of jobs, knowingly. Why? Because building houses in the Texas heat is more than most can stand. Mowing lawns is hard work with the heat and humidity, etc. Locals don't want to be waitresses and waiters. Everyone there knew it was happening, but nobody cared because these people were making money for someone else, and no-one wanted those jobs anyway.

Secondly, Mexico is a nation in free fall. This is largely fueled by Cartels. The cartels are supplying drugs across the border to satisfy a never-ending demand in the US. What goes the other way is weapons. For example, the gun trade has grown exponentially since the end of the last century. Those guns are then used to support those that are dealing the drugs. It's a dangerous dynamic that is helping to keep cartels in power in large parts of the country. Where's the uproar about that? Where is the legislation to stop weapons and ammunition being sold into Mexico? Nowhere.

Thirdly, the US is a country of immigrants. In fact, the entire basis of the US is that of interlopers. In modern times the scale is far greater for potential immigration, I get that, but the heart of the nation is one of welcoming others. It's written on the Statue of Liberty: "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" What a wonderful message.

Okay - so what can be done then? Personally, I think we should start to concentrate on the disease, and not the symptoms. There is a reason these people are trying to go to other countries. The tale of "it's for the benefits and a free ride" isn't accurate, it's a lazy trope. Many of them are running away from real horrors. These are desperate people. What would you do if you feared for your child's life? What would you be willing to do if the only future you saw for your children was their being sucked up into a life of crime as a cartel member (the average life span of a cartel member is 5 to 10 years)? What would you do to avoid starvation? What would you do to get medical help?

Worse - foreign policies of first world countries, elected by you and me, are responsible for a lot of what has gone wrong elsewhere. Through wars, economic policies, and lack of aid, our representatives have undermined third world nations. I think we'd be far better off dealing with that, making these countries better places to live, than what we have today. No-one is going to convince me that women and men are taking their children and babies, getting into boats and sailing across sea's, in order to get a free meal.

One final thing - in the EU there is free movement of people between countries. There is crime, of course. But it works. It works brilliantly overall. The borders, which still exist, are almost completely open. People come and people go. It's been an economic boon.

But mostly, the thing I dislike the most about all this, is the nastiness of it. There is real hatred against Asylum Seekers. People are suggesting disgraceful policies to counter them. They're all painted as criminals with nothing to offer, as though they're worthless human beings. The rhetoric comes from the darkest side of our souls. This is fostered by some people in politics for votes, pandering to the worst of human nature. All I'd ask is, treat them with human respect. The US purports to be a Christian nation, run on Christian ideals - can we get an ounce of that, please? Because all I seem to come across is anger, hate, and blanket statements to denigrate people who already have nothing.

ps: I am not saying YOU or anyone else here is guilty of the worst of what I'm writing.

Well .... this may be considered politics ....... And get me kicked off .....again... but .... it needs to be noted.

There was a previous guy in charge .... and he was taking an honest stand against illegal immigration but ....... He wasn't liked for what ever reasons ? ... And the person in charge was changed.

It's a democracy, my friend. A constitutional democracy with people who have different ideas and ideals. I do not believe the last guy had an "an honest stand", on just about anything. He was voted out by the democratic process. In short, the people have spoken.

From where I sit, I see the demonization of these immigrant people. I see them used as an "other", an other we're supposed to fear and hate. It's a well-worn tactic to push an agenda through. While we're focused on other, we don't notice everything else.

But yes, to discuss in detail would be outside the forum rules, so we should leave it here.

... and the person now in charge just announced yesterday that more fence WILL be built on the border after all.
Think it was a better idea a few years ago when the previous guy championed it and was denounced by the current guy.
We all learn I guess. Even the "big guy" ... eventually.

Illegal immigrants were illegal when they crossed the border without following proper immigration channels, guidelines and laws.
They broke immigration laws. I think that's illegal. It's illegal to break a law right?

Nowhere in the Constitution of our Republic did the writers use the word "Democracy".
Although some characteristics of a democracy are represented in the government seated in Washington, D.C.
Which represents a democratic republic, which governs a federated union of states, each of which in turn has its own democrat-republican government for its jurisdiction.

Go Navy Beat Army
