Nonetheless, Scott is 47 y/o. How would you like to spend the rest of your life in prison? Scott could live another 30-40 years and that’s a lot of time to be locked up, not to mention that he has already been locked up 17 years.

I would imagine that the D.A. could have a do-over on the penalty phase, but will they?

Torture, absolute torture.

Even on the most boring of days, which I really never have, I can look outside and know that the world is for my taking, anything I want to do, try, see, it's all mine.

Life is good being a good person.

Prison's have T.V's in an area that inmates have access to during leisure time. Some prison's allow tablets for inmates. Inmates can access e-mail. Inmates can make phone calls. There is equipment for exercising. Inmates have access to books. Inmates get 3 meals a day. Inmates are given time outside in courtyards. Inmates can have approved visits from family and friends. Tell me again how bad he is suffering?

I believe we can thank the bleeding-hearts of the world today for having molded and shaped prison life into what it is.

I won't express here on the forum what my husband's solution would be for murderers, but it's raw.

The only thing we can take comfort in, Becky, is knowing he's suffering day after day... slowly rotting, whittling away, seeing himself dwindle and shed his youth while being contained for life.

I hope demons consume him slowly.
The catch, though, is to have 'demons' an individual must have a conscience- and some individuals simply do not have one.

It doesn't really matter. Many death row inmates die of old age before they're executed due to the appeals process & other delays.

He's suffering. Screw tv. I haven't been able to live freely since April because of the virus and I'm half nuts from it so I have no doubt Scott is suffering from his loss of freedom too. Nobody would want to live like that.

While I agree with all you said .......... he still cannot get up go outside , take a walk, have a beer, go into the kitchen & make a sandwich, etc. & so-on. When he chooses. So he is suffering a loss of freedom ...... and that is the whole point of prison.

Personally ? I say shoot him.......it saves taxpayer dollars.

But there will always be those that feel that sitting in prison is more punishment , and it may well be, all depends on the person. Execution, ending their misery, may be a relief for them.

There are so many things that the masses will never agree on ....... the death penalty is just another of them.

I agree, and yet ........ they fight execution ?

Different prisons offer different things. It all depends on the level of security for starters. But, no matter what they are allowed or are privileged to receive, they have lost their most precious gift; freedom.

When I would walk into a prison and down the row of cells with prisoners in them, it made me feel very uncomfortable. I look on some of their faces and I could see despair, the loss of hope and just giving up. Some prisoners have hobbies. Some enjoy posting on forums while others like to paint or read. The law cannot take away some of their rights, especially their first amendment rights. If they killed someone, their victim lost their rights, but the prisoners must have access to the library and internet while they are appealing their conviction or sentence.

There’s a lot to it and I could write several paragraphs of what goes on in prisons. I know that it’s not for me. Joining a gang or having some con ragging on me for sex is no way to live.

After my brother was sentenced for murder and was sentenced to jail for the rest of his life, he said that his fellow inmates wanted to have jobs in the prison. Otherwise it was sitting around all day. He was glad to get a job cleaning the floor. He was able to get out and run around the track - when he was young enough to do that. There were deer on the grounds and the inmates could look through the bars in the visiting room and see them. It was a good thing. He told me that the guys who were the rowdiest in prison were the short timers. Those who were in literally for life knew this was their home, and they didn't play games. He died in prison completely broken in mind, soul and body. He paid for his crimes. To paraphrase one of the members here, he lived long and suffered mightily.

Before you judge how someone should be treated in jail, should they die should they live, think about how it would be if it was your father, mother, sister, brother, your son or daughter...etc. It's easy to judge when you have nothing in it personally. The entire horrific mess destroyed my family. Destroyed my loving parents, destroyed his children. Destroyed my goals and dreams. If you want to know how it really is walk a mile in the killer's families shoes. I wrote a couple of books about it. I have articles on my website. Please open your minds. Judgmentalism judges the ones who judge.

I wonder, if we were given the choice of spending our life in a maximum security prison with no chance of parole, or being dead, which most of us would choose?

Well Scott Peterson is not going anywhere, except that he won't have the comfy features of Death Row, and likely will go into General Population, where baby killers are at the bottom of the food chain. Baby Killers, child molesters and thieves are loathed, and preyed upon by the other inmates. Plus, there's always that one youngster that wants to make a name for himself by assaulting a 'celebrity' inmate. Charles Manson was assaulted several times, Jeffrey Dahmer was beaten to death while incarcerated.
Edit
Judgmentalism judges the ones who judge.

One of many Bible verses support this view. Matthew 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
