If I wanted to work for Walmart,I'd apply.
Hate them!
They haven't showed up at Aldi s yet...
When I was in elementary school, I would sometimes accompany my grandfather to Childs' Grocery Store in Lansing, Michigan. Grandpa would step up to the counter and tell Mr. Childs what he wanted. Mr. Childs would fetch each item from behind the counter, package them if needed, and put them into a bags for Grandpa. Those were probably the last days before the advent of the "supermarket" which, as I think about it, was an early form of "warehouse store".
In some respects, "progress" = "pay more/get less".
they still do and more and more stores are doing it. i get all of my groceries delivered by Safeway including Alcohol. And they used to deliver groceries, milk, and bread. Different times.
p.s. - I also pump my own gas. You?
If you lived in Oregon you wouldn't be pumping your own gas. As far as I know it's not much of an option in California where I live. I think if you are handicapped you can call a posted number and someone will come out and pump the gas for you. I don't see how they can do that when they have a grocery store to run though. Maybe if it's a grocery store that sells gas the laws are different on having to provide gas to those who can't pump it for themselves.
What I am talking about is a regular route and daily delivery. If you wanted milk you left the empty. And it was horse and buggy. Then vans. Then nothing. The advent of the automobile.they still do and more and more stores are doing it. i get all of my groceries delivered by Safeway including Alcohol.
Oregon's laws changed for some rural areas on January 1. Several other states do not allow self serve gasoline. But for the rest of us, unless you are handicapped, it's pump your own. Can't remember the last time someone pumped gas for me. 30 years? More?
I don't like them because as others have mentioned they put clerks out of jobs
or reduce their hours. I usually shop on Sundays as the line ups are not so long
and I have gotten to know several of the checkout clerks and we have a chat
while putting the items through the cash.
