Seniors, Are You Comfortable Being Naked in Front of Others?

It depends what you mean by comfortable. You would have to be very careful, say if you were cooking, with unrestrained bits and pieces flapping about!

It's not that I was ever shy about going naked. I did go topless at a club med about 45 years ago. But I think unless you are young and slim, don't do it. Hubby and I have been to Wreck Beach here in BC and oh, my god, cover yourself up if you are overweight and or old. Not a pretty sight at all!!

I don't know, I like looking at people with or without clothes, old, young, fat or skinny. Its just people, we are what we are...

As a former avid sauna visitor (in Germany in the sauna cabins people have to be naked) I am extremely comfortable with being naked in public. At my age and with my body deficiencies I'm not the "beau", that's for sure. But if people don't like looking at me, they should not. Not my problem. Of course only at saunas or at nudist resorts. But there all people don't criticize someone for how he/she looks.

re: Happy Retiree's post #205 I live about 3 miles from Wreck Beach and never had the desire to go to this beach!! I think it is quite a steep rocky slope to the beach. I know where it is - in the summer the cars are parked bumper to bumper on Marine Drive near the entrance.

I am comfortable with nudity, mine and others.

“What spirit is so empty and blind, that it cannot recognize the fact that the foot is more noble than the shoe, and skin more beautiful than the garment with which it is clothed?” - Michelangelo

re: people of every age were comfortable being nude.

They may be comfortable but some are better looking covered up.
I saw these 2 very large naked females sunning together and that picture has NEVER left my mind.
I've been to nude beaches and I think large people actually look better naked. Suits squeeze and emphasize their largeness.

I returned from a nudist resort recently and people of all ages were naked. From nine years to elderly men. Everyone seemed to enjoy
themselves in the pool on a very hot day. The resort discourages any ****** touching and speech in public. People who do that are not welcome back. Curiously, nudism gives the illusion of intimacy except without physical contact. (Close dancing is the opposite.
There's the illusion of intimacy with much touching and ****** movements, but no nudity.)
What I found curious(if I may discreetly bring it up) is that everyone there I noticed were shaven down under. Is this the trend nowadays? I understand it for girls who wear bikinis. To me, it looks child-like. This is strictly personal and it does not matter to others, but does anyone care to comment?
You've heard the saying " Do the drapes match the carpet?". I prefer hardwood floors 🤣

Most of us older guys probably aren't too shy as we grew up with communal showers. You had no choice. Before my time but some boys had to swim naked in swim class. That I can't abide because nobody should be forced.
I've noticed young people are really modest these days at least from what I see at the gym. We have some tiny showers and if you try to towel off in them you'll get your towel all wet on the sides of the showers. Young people will get totally dressed in there and when they come out their shirts are wet. Seems goofy to me, but whatever fits your comfort zone.

Lord, I remember when I was in the PF showers. A sign warned of "Female in the locker room" I just walked past, stripped and walked with bag to the showers.

The cleaner (The female) said "The sign was to let you know I'm here"

I replied "Yes I read it, but remember, it didn't say I had to strip inside the shower. If you can't handle seeing a naked old man, find another job, or turn your head"

As they saying goes "Those who'd look great should go naked, those who don't, shouldn't"

As a nurse, I can honestly say, it is simply anatomy to us. We become very clinical about these things and believe me we all look the same on a slab.
I knew a bunch of nurses back in the day and they definitely noticed. They'd argue over who got to bathe, whatever a young cute guy. They'd talk about it all the time after a few drinks

Yup, I thought I would never make it up! I went 2 or 3 times in about 1989 - 1990.

This is strange. But I've read the same about the people of the former German Democratic Republic. During the era of communism there were nudist camping sites, nudist beaches at lakes and the Baltic Sea all around. And they had many nudist clubs. Being naked was at least a little freedom. But after the reunion with West Germany in 1989 nudism went down on a large scale. Now the young people of the former GDR are quite shy and would never be naked in public.
In my opinion every naked body is beautiful. At the saunas (my wife and I only visited mixed saunas for both sexes) and at the nudist clubs you see so many people without a 'perfect' body, as women without one or both breasts after mastectomy, men with large breasts (gynecomastia), people with sagging bellies, people with an ostomy bag and so on. Why should they be embarrassed? My father lost his left arm at the end of WWII and never was embarrassed with his quite short stump (only the shoulder was left intact) going to swimming pools or the beach. And swimming itself was no problem for him either.

As I related earlier in this resurrected dated thread, reasonable swim suits at beach or pool fine or minimal athletic suits where appropriate.

Nudists are fine in their private clubs. But otherwise totally nude in open public? What value is there beyond those of exhibitionists and voyeurs, to the shocked rest of us? As someone that never views media naked celebrity links much less pornography, I avoid having my mind polluted. Due to neural plasticity, we are what we do and experience.

In Japan when you are taking a bath the lady's will come in and jump right in with you. , So I have been told.
I was taken to a bath in Japan once, no ladies - they had a separate bathing area, not visible to each other. Some of the men however did bring their young daughters. The young, less than 12 I'd guess, girls enjoyed looking at and poking me, I was the only non-Japanese in the bath. The fathers just looked on and laughed a bit. The whole experience was rather uncomfortable to me.

Hmm. In school I had no problem changing my clothes in gym class. I was a short teenage. I simply climbed into my locker, shut the door, and changed clothes.

Naked in front of husband of 52 years when necessary, like after a surgery and need help in and out of shower. Wear a gown in front of doctors and only completely naked during surgery when I am unconscious and unaware 😂.

If God had wanted us to walk around naked, he would not have invented clothes.
But God did not invent clothes. Remember that Adam and Eve were naked in paradise.🤣

Berlin to allow women to go topless in public pools

Women will soon be allowed to swim topless in Berlin's public pools, after a ruling by the city's authorities.

It comes after a woman who was thrown out of an open-air pool for sunbathing topless took legal action.
A second woman said she was told to cover up while at an indoor pool in December.
Authorities agreed they had been victims of discrimination and said that all visitors to Berlin's pools were now entitled to go topless.
The decision will be welcomed by those here who champion what's known as Freikörperkultur - free body culture.
Foreign visitors to Germany are often surprised - and sometimes downright disconcerted - by the sight of naked Germans frolicking in its lakes, snoring in its parks, or sweating in its saunas.
But this is a country which considers public nudity in some settings to be both appropriate and healthy.
The issue of whether, and to what degree, that is permissible at municipal swimming pools has plagued many a local authority.
Last summer, Göttingen in Lower Saxony and Siegen in North Rhine Westphalia allowed women to swim topless.
Berlin's swimming pool operator, the Berliner Bäderbetriebe (BBB), has not actually changed its rules, which insist that a bathing costume covers the *******s.
The BBB merely clarified that this applies to every visitor, irrespective of their gender.
