Conversation with Ron.
I said: “Do you wear gloves when you work?”
He responded: I didn’t have dogs
Me: 😳
Then he said: And I didn’t live in New York.
Me: 👀

Guess who forgot to put his hearing aids back in after his shower??! 😂

Did you have dogs in New York?
What kind of question is that?
He’s has a dog or two most of his life. He was raised in NY State and spent a good part of his life there, so I’m assuming that the way he heard the question wasn’t altogether outlandish to him.

Ok I’ll bite. 😂
what’s that?
First, I was just joking!
Second:
The clock-drawing test is a simple tool that is used to screen people for signs of neurological problems, such as Alzheimer’s and other dementias. It is often used in combination with other, more thorough screening tests, but even when used by itself, it can provide helpful insight into a person’s cognitive ability.

It won't work if he's suffering from digital dementia.

In Ontario when you reach 80 years of age that's the test they use when applying for your driver's license.
In combination with drawing the clock with the hands at 10 after 10. (and there is one on the wall) you also have to be able to pick out and cross out the "h" in a long series of random letters. I counted them out after I finished. There were 134 in two lines of text.
You also have to pass an eye test and listen to a lecture and answer questions.
Example: How far up into an intersection do you go when making a left hand turn on a green light with traffic coming toward you.

Now how do you know when you are getting old?
You come home at the same time you used to go out.

I think it's a pretty good idea to administer those tests at 80. Our DMV renewed my mother's license FOR FIVE YEARS when she was 85. She was still living alone (against our advice) but was clearly starting to slide down the path of dementia.

My brother removed the distributor cap from her car and put a note on the engine requesting that AAA or other do-gooder please not fix it, leaving our phone numbers if there were any questions.

Every year in Ontario when you reach 80 you have to take the test to get a renewal.

It's a long story, but due to an infection, I became delusional, and out of it. If it wasn't for a visiting nurse, who found me on the floor, I wouldn't be here. Like i said, I was delusional. One delusion was that death rays were being shot from the ceiling molding. I could see the flash and hear the sounds they made. It was so real to me. Another delusion was that people's hands on TV looked like fish fins. Again ,to me, this was real. Ronni probably wanted a light hearted thread, but unfortunitely this happens to the elederly ,too.

@fuzzybuddy I'm so sorry that happened to you! 😢

This thread can be whatever it wants .. I have no particular direction for it other than some gentle fun. But serious discussion is fine too. 👍

signs im getting older.....my lovely thick hair , is getting thinner...😖😒
That is one thing I’m not dealing with and I enormously grateful!!! I don’t mind the wrinkles, the saggy boobs, the little pot belly, but I’d really struggle if my hair were to start thinning the way so many is my friends have. Several women have resorts to wearing wigs, some have cut their hair very, very short, and the rest have resorted to hats and a different style in order to minimize the scalp showing thru.

Men aren’t immune either, they can have baldness issues. When Ron started going bald, he tried various things and finally just said to hell with it and buzzed his hair all over. He’s quite gray now and it mostly looks like he’s shaved his head unless you’re close enough to see the 1/4-1/2 inch of hair.

saggy boobs Ronnie said --jeezz why do they stop being perky - nature is a bummer most times for us girls '
and hands- what are on show all the time grrrrrr -we cant wear gloves all the time ---I loved my hands once
even did a advert long ago for hygiene -and the hands where shown all the time -not now ' nails are not bad

but hands show to many wrinklys and fatty knuckles … sobs quietly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ever visit a museum where they have a re-creation of a classroom in the old days, with the seats lined up, each seat attached to the desk behind it, and a hole in the desk for the inkwell, and pens with removable points (I think they were called nibs) and blotters, because the ink always spilled, and the blackboard with chalk and erasers, and that chart showing the letters in cursive writing, and a card catalogue.... and then realized that you were looking at your own classroom?
