Smart home Technology for Seniors

I'm 90 years old and am using my PC for 8 hours EVERY DAY! I would be terribly bored without it. I manage my investments there and am engrossed in the games of Chess.com and Civilization VI at Steam.com.

Manatee's fonts are way too SMALL in the post above.

I got a smart light bulb with my Alexa a few years back - never did figure out how to use it. :ROFLMAO:

Too each his/her own --- the older I get, the less I like all the new gadgets (or understand them).

@Mitch86 I don't think computers are considered smart tech --- I could be wrong. I think it has to talk to you and stuff. :p

I recently asked for help on a computer chat room. When it was found out I was still using Windows 7, I received some pretty discouraging comments. One was that I am endangering the whole world by using such outdated software.
Not everyone is a computer whiz.

Even though I assume I have at least average intelligence, electronics are a mystery to me. I have a flat panel TV a friend gave to me and I'm still using my old CRT TV because I don't know how to set up another TV to work with cable - programming the remote is the tricky part.

debodun, you're not the only one using Windows 7. I'm typing this on my Windows 7 PC. It works very well, I don't get much in the way of spam, and as for malware, etc. I just don't click on anything I think might be dodgy. So I'm not intending to regrade anytime soon. Note I didn't say 'upgrade' because I'm not sure that Windows 10 or 11 is much of an upgrade over the version I'm using.
