Now living in England, I miss America, but I miss the American people most of all,
they are warm friendly and open.

I'm creative, also interested in politics both in America, and in the UK, not too good in either place.

Hi Elyzbeth! Welcome and I also am a transplanted American having come from the northeast US coast to live here for over a decade in N Ireland.

I have found the Irish though to be very welcoming. But of course one misses ones country in certain ways.

Hope you enjoy this site, it may help that it's populated with many Americans.
 
Welcome Elyzabeth, glad you found us too. I understand how hard it is to be raised in one place, and move into another. You will meet folks from other countries here, and I have found a sweet lady that I believe moved from America, and I know she lives in Ireland. I bet she will be able to share some things with you, things in common about relocation;) Denise PS Whoops, forgot to give her name on here, Gael!!

Actually I moved from America about 9 years ago now, lived 5 in Scotland and 4 years in wonderful Bristol
Which the Sunday Times has just awarded the honour of being
"THE BEST CITY IN THE UK TO LIVE IN"

OH the hordes of people who will be coming here now, the rise in prices, including rents...
This is what is called a "mixed blessing"

As to my relocation, pretty used to it now, as a matter of fact I'm a citizen of both countries...
what I miss, as I say is not the places, but the wonderful American people...

I know not everyone on here is from America..that doesn't matter, just happy that some are.

Curious as to why you went for dual citizenship or was it a matter of a close relative enabling you to have that? I just went for permanent residency as I did not want to become a British "subject" which would be an insult to my ancestors who fought for freedom from England.

It is more secure since I knew this would be our place of residency.

My ancestors fought hard against their oppression and I have been told that someone with our
family name was present at the beheading of Charles the First.

Shortly after that event my ancestors arrived in Virginia..
so we have been in the United States a right long old time,

... but it is a new world.

My ancestors fought and died for me to have the right to make my own choices
so there is definitely no insult there !
