So How Was Your Halloween?

I don't know about you guys but I think Ive reach the point where Halloween isn't for the youngsters anymore.
I do the usual and decorate outside with the lighted pumpkins and $20 worth of candy.
But today its mostly teenagers and YES adults ringing my bell,one lady was carrying an dress up baby infant and with a grocery store bag for the candy. At one point a convey of 3 vans loaded with kids pull up to my driveway and out comes (guessing)15-20 kids. Worst part is when the adults bring their friggin dress up dogs with them alone.. Now Im exhausted and shut the outdoor light off...no fun anymore.

Anybody want some leftover mini milkyways,I got hundreds.
 

Quiet, because I shut off the porch light, closed the window blinds, poured myself drink and watched the

Kansas City Royals beat the pants off of the New Yawk Mets.
 
We don't get kids at the door (hi-rise in a gated community), but my building had a hilarious Halloween party in the party room downstairs. They gave prizes for the best costumes, drinks and snacks were provided, and a good time was had by all. I came dressed as a court jester with a hat with points and bells, didn't win any prize for it.
Some of the outfits were very elaborate and very clever.

The holiday is definitely not only for kids any more!
 
My Halloween was spooktackulous. I had a blast, my costume, this year, received more comments and camera shots from passer bys and people wanting to take pictures along side me than at any of the events in past years. I was really surprised by the amount of attention; a little unnerving when you're trying to eat and are biting into food and people are staring and pointing at you taco sauce dripping down the side of your mouth.

I got to see so much creativity of people young and old. Only wish my phone camera wasn't so happy,but I will try to get so pic from some of my groups members to upload later.
 
Not a single little vagabond came to our door. My reputation precedes me, even amongst the kids! :(

I haven't dressed up meself for awhile but next year I plan to. Such a fun evening. To get to best buddies house we had to drive through four or five towns covered in trick or treaters. We would sit at traffic lights and ooh and ahh all the passing costumes. There are zillions of kids in some areas so just flocks of people everywhere. Then we got to best buddies and the kids we took out were 3 and 4. Callie was such a gentleman, but even the few blocks wore him right out. The kids got enough candy to last to December.

Something I noticed in our area has been the increase in Halloween decorations. More so than most other holidays actually. Lights and figures and window décor, some of it very elaborate. One house last night had a huge spider on the porch roof. The body had a light show projecting inside it. Then there were lights on the garage door and upstairs window making it look like flames. Last year they projected " The Great Pumpkin" on the garage.

The traffic stopper in our neighborhood is the house that puts a rope web from roof to ground. Then they have a perhaps seven foot animated spider eating a baby doll...compete with sound and light. Probably the most photographed yard every year!
 
Bought 12 bags of fun sized candy bars, and lights were on from 6:30-8:30, just about out of candy then. Not too many kids this year, but they all were very nice and polite. Toward the end older kids were coming from other neighborhoods. We never dress up for Halloween, just do the trick or treat thing for the kiddos.
 
This morning, Deb talking to her Mother who lives alone in Indiana, learned Mom had bought boxes of cookies and Hershey's Kisses which she packaged individually in baggies. She told the youngest daughter, Betsy, about it in advance; Bets told her the town had passed a law prohibiting giving out re-wrapped goodies. Mom didn't know; the deal was off!

Their Mom will be 90 in January. She still drives herself to Columbia City, the nearest large town to Churubusco, where she takes part in Senior Center hi-jinks and such! Pretty amazing lady! imp
 
Regarding Hallowe'en, I had a wonderful time. I attended a costume party on my friend's houseboat. Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely, and no one fell overboard. Many of us perhaps drank a little too much, but hey, why not? Lovely memories, and awesome food.
 
I say I'm not doing it anymore but like an idiot Ill probably do it again,Im in a single home in the neighborhood full of kids so if I want to see the hour fall back again I better leave that light on or move.
 
I forgot one funny thing just before we got home. Other people had their dogs out and we passed a small dog. He saw Callie and started to bark his tiny poodle head off. Gentleman that he is he ignored the little beast, but the owner swooped him up in her arms..."No No Bitsy, we don't bark at those kind of doggies!". I should have said it's okay, he already ate;)
 
Just learned the person taking most of the group's pics was water bombed by one of those big water guns, she's sending the file over to a friend to see if they can recover the pictures off of the camera. Sigh.
 
Where we live, there are no kids that go our way.. We live way off the beaten track which means NO little ones..
I remember many years ago in Montreal the tons of kids that came for their treats..
 
Going as Caitlyn I was handsomely rewarded by any man came to the door as you can imagine...
