Sounds and noises

The sound of mom's kitchen timer telling her something as ready to come out of the oven. She also had a manual typewriter that used to click when you hit the key's and dinged when you came to the end of a line. In school we had classrooms full of those old typewriters.

When I was around 4 or 5, we lived in a ghetto apartment. I loved it because every day around lunchtime, I would hear a "scurrying, scraping" noise. I'd sit on the floor & 5 huge rats jumped into my lap & I shared my lunch with them. My brother & sister said I was crazy & they would bite me & make me sick. They never did.

I still hear the sound of the Milkman's bottles being delivered because we still have milk delivery here who deliver to my neighbours.. ( about 6 people in my road get milk deliveries)

I have a clothes line on a reel in my garden for using to dry large items which won't fit in the dryer..so don't miss that

I have 3 Rotary dial phones.. because they're my collection, so I don't miss the sound of those .. :D

The Ice cream Van comes around every day in summer here... his tune is Bobby Shafto's gone to sea... :D so I don't miss that..

I think maybe I'd like to hear the sound of my adult daughter again when she was a baby ...I wish we could have afforded a Camcorder when she was little

We have an ice cream van coming round the village in summer. We have a mobile fishmonger who comer round in his van every Friday, but as a child, I remember the fishmonger coming round the streets with his horse and cart calling out to the locals.

Back in the 60's when I was a student at Queens University, there was a man who used to play the saw outside the city hall. This is mentioned in Van Morrison's song "Sense of Wonder".
