Spring Time - Who else is ready?

My man used to go ice fishing but hasn’t gone since being here. I don’t mind fishing but it’s not something I crave doing. I hate killing anything and that part of fishing isn’t something I like doing. Neither of us drink so there’s no partying. Now I sound boring. lol
I know plenty here who guess term is snow birds they love ice fishing .

I keep fish tanks heavy planted tanks but still like fishing , I do not have a boat nor would ever go out in one due to my terror of sharks but I walk the canals and fish .

I saw the first sign of Spring here in New Jersey Saturday morning when I discovered a nest of shredded newspapers with a newborn squirrel in my garden shed. The momma was fussing and yelling at me to get out. Apparently she didn’t remember I was feeding her and her friends acorns and peanuts all Winter.

I swim in the ocean. The only thing I’m cautious of is jelly fish. I’ve been stung by them and they really hurt.

We have a 14 foot fishing boat with a 25 horse power motor. My husband never uses the boat for fishing. He usually wears chest waders and goes right in the water. He’s a very good fisherman so I think he knows what he’s doing. One guy that used to fish at the same place calls him the fish whisperer, all while cursing him out . 🤣

That is excellent that your husband uses waders to fish. I too was a wading in fisher dude. I loved it. I caught large pond, large mouth bass. Usually about 1 and 1/2 lbs . 16". I did catch a couple that were about 3 lbs. Thought that was GREAT! If he fishes this year try to get some pics. I retired about 10 years ago. The thrill had gone. :)

It’s mostly been raining here though we still get frosty nights in between with cool, misty days. The snowdrops are up but little else yet, daffodils are just beginning to push up green leaves. We’ve had robins all through winter along with blackbirds, tits of various kinds, wood pidgeons, doves etc & the hedgehogs have just woken up from the winter, we have a couple of families in our garden.
Summers never get very hot here, usually in the seventies, if we’re lucky, otherwise sixties & always there’s rain. You can tell if it’s winter or summer by the temperature of the rain 😁

A sure sign of spring - the street cleaners need to get working. It’s so darn dusty.

I haven’t seen any sign of flowers; probably because I don’t plant any. This has been the warmest winter I’ve ever experienced here and I love it.

Hi Dennis, he usually takes pictures. Here’s some pics of his last fish catching expedition.

We'll need to wait a while to put away our winter parkas and store the snowblower. It's 5 AM here and the overnight low temperature was above 0 Fahrenheit for the first time in a while. I intend to build a fire in the fireplace, make a pot of good coffee, and read for a few hours.

"This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalms 118:24)

Never been a winter person, never enjoyed snow and can't wait for it to go away.
Thankfully, we usually don't get very much and I'm happy.
Now that I have someone to mow and take care of the outside, I enjoy Spring a lot more.

Since my neighborhood is now full of newly arrived young couples, I sit on my deck and watch
them tend to their flowers and yards.
They work hard outside and I usually wave and tip my coctail their way.
Sometimes I think about the Mel Brooks movie quote, 'It's Good to Be the King'...

Well, considering I live within 15 miles of Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri, it is now officially rain and thunderstorms season. And we had one this morning.

Luckily, I don’t have to go out too often but I have 3 medical appointments this week.

Still love spring though! 🌹🪻🌸🌺🌷🌻🌼

Holy mackerel Andy!! :) they are beautiful and delicious also. Does he still fish? Is it still fun for him? Thanks so much for sharing. Him too! :)
There’s only one time per year when he can fish for mackerel and that’s when there’s a mackerel run. The mackerel was really good.

Yes he still fishes but but only in the spring summer and fall. There’s a limit to how many trout he can catch a day . It’s 5. That’s why you only see 5 in each photo and he usually catches his limit. They are sea trout and are redder than salmon.

He LOVES fishing and goes often. It’s something he loves doing on his own. It’s always fun for him. He always catches fish when he goes. He’s modest so claims it’s all luck. And you’re welcome. My pleasure.

Today we went out to purchase lettuce seeds and little trays to plant them in. We are going to start growing them in our laundry room. We will plant 2 per week. Last year we bought lettuce seedlings already started but this year my husband wants to start his own from seeds. We will be starting peppers and tomatoes from seeds also.

I am ready. I am out of basil.
I don't relish heat waves, but I'm tired of winter.

IMO cherry tomatoes which grow easily in a bucket , stock tank , hanging basket , etc and FAST pack the best flavor punch , Roma types grow bit slower / bigger but also great . After awhile you might get sick of eating them .

I have not had same luck with larger tomatoes .

We grew tomato plants in buckets last year. We had various cherry tomatoes,
( chocolate) and various full sized ones including Romas, yellow boys and beef eaters. They all grew very well. Later in the year when they outgrew their buckets, we transplanted them into the garden.
Thanks for sharing.
