Starbucks Sued For Too Much Ice In Their Drinks

OK, it's official -- this country's gone nuts.

Well, we need something to keep our Army of Lawyers well fed...and these frivolous lawsuits help in that regard. Personally, I think anyone who pays $5 for a cup of coffee at Starbucks is a few bricks short of a full load, anyway. A 49 cent Senior coffee at McDonald's is a far better choice for anyone with an ounce of common sense.
 
About the extra ice in drinks IS an old scam to squeeze every last cent of profit. Ice costs the business less than the cost of the drink, so the more ice you can stick in a cup, the more money you make. And if you've been to a place that has really thick shakes, chances are the shake mix was diluted with water. Same principle as with the ice. Another trick is watering down the onions. Some fast food places use freeze dried onions. Just add water and 20 minutes later you have finely chopped onions. But if you soak them overnight in water, they double their size. It 'looks' like you've got lots of onions on your burger, but strangely you don't get onion breath?If you have a huge chain of stores, selling hundreds of thousands drinks a day, saving 10-15 cents per drink adds up to real money.
 
The rare time I get a Starbuck's chai latte, I ask for 'no water'. Not a lot of people know that they don't use 100% steamed milk. I get 'skinny' latte (skim milk), half-syrup, and no foam.

I've never bought coffee at Starbucks, bought a bag of their beans once in the market and was unimpressed. I've told places in the past to go light on the ice, and never had a problem with it. People these days are sue crazy, that's for sure....so petty.
 
If I'm the judge getting this case, it would be over quickly, no trial just a quick dismissal, with the plaintiff paying court costs and defense counsel costs and the plaintiff's lawyer getting a long lecture about wasting the court's time with stunts like this. I have no patience for stuff like this.
