Actually this is true that ironing kills bacteria and fungus and so does drying clothes on the line in the sun. It sterilizes the fabric and smells fabulous.
There’s nothing like freshly hung sheets on the line that have been ironed but I’d never do it.![]()
They are the best but I do not iron as everything comes out of dryer looking great. I do make it a point to open the dryer after 35 minutes to avoid wrinkling if they finish the cycle and are not taken out immediately.I also have a Rowenta. I don't iron much but it works great and no "sputtering."
Did you know that if you just want a collar and or cuffs done you can use a hot hair straightener ?I use a little hand-held steamer to remove wrinkles from clothes. Easier than getting out the ironing board, etc.
My mom had one of those too. I'm pretty sure that's where the name "iron" came from, since that thing was a piece of iron with a handle. One of my grandmothers had one of these she heated on her old stove.

I no longer iron hubs clothes, they all go to the dry cleaners....I hate ironing, especially shirts!!I have a Black+Decker iron for about 4 yrs now and it works great. I don't have to iron as much as I did before since it's only me and Hubby now. I used to have to do about 15 shirts a week between my Husband, Son and Daughter. Now I only have to make sure Hubby's clothes are ironed perfectly because he is a fanatic about what he wears, even around the house.

Why?I hate ironing, especially shirts!!
So you had to be trained ?...I didn't say ironing was hard, in fact it's very easy..who needs training?..I've been doing it since I was 6 years old..I just said I hated it!! It's monotonous and back breaking !!Why?
Shirts are easy, 2 minutes per! I was trained in the Air Force.
I iron all/most of my clothes, usually on a Sunday afternoon
while watching football, soccer, on the TV.
Mike.
Not my problem... if hubs is happy to have them done at the dry cleaners, fine by me, it was his decision !! I don't send my own clothes there... but then aside from the odd thing, I rarely buy anything that needs ironing..What about all the chemicals dry cleaners use???
Perhaps "trained" is the wrong word, I had to learnSo you had to be trained ?...I didn't say ironing was hard, in fact it's very easy..who needs training?..I've been doing it since I was 6 years old..I just said I hated it!! It's monotonous and back breaking !!
