Stop drinking bottled water

Just google, "nano plastics in bottled water" and you will find plenty of articles like, "Bottled water contains hundreds of thousands of tiny plastic nanoparticles, according to a new study [1,2,3.] The study found that two standard-sized water bottles had 240,000 plastic particles in them on average, with about 90% of the particles being nanoplastics and 10% being microplastics [2.] The plastic seems to come from the bottle itself and the reverse osmosis membrane filter used to keep out other contaminants [3.]"

And now comes a new study, "Nanoplastics linked to heart attack, stroke and early death, study finds."

For possibly 20 years, I have been drinking only tap water to safe money. Our Western Municipal Water District of Riverside County sends us annually their water analysis report Water Quality Reports | Western Municipal Water District, CA. Tap water indeed appears to be safer than bottled water.

Unknowingly, I have been doing the right thing all along.

Many urban water systems have been neglected for so long that their water tastes like drinking "swimming pool" water.
Our city is replacing the water pipes. I think they replaced some last summer during the reconstruction of the streets and have more to do. I do not drink this water but buy water that is delivered.........yes, in plastic bottles but that is the best I can do. I figure I made it to this age and whatever time I have left I will put up with it.

So what is the alternative? Fine for people living in their own houses in the country but living in an apartment building there is sadly no choice for me.
A reverse osmosis system installed under the kitchen sink with a spigot on top works quite well.
Be sure to get a Filmtec 1812-75 membrane along with 1 micron sediment and carbon block pre filters.
You only need a 2 canister system not 3, which then makes an excellent 3 stage system with the membrane.

I'm too old to worry about it. Chances are good that I will die of heart attack or suffer a stroke anyway. It's the number one cause of death.

Have you noticed that all the news that comes out has a consistent theme of casting doubts on and questioning the infrastructures we've trusted our whole lives here in the US. You'd almost think that our enemies are out to destabilize the entire nation. But then that's just a silly conspiracy theory and anyone who suggests such a thing is instantly silenced and made a fool of.

I always drink tap water and proud of it. Years ago, I walked into a Canadian Tire Store and they had a pallet of bottled water for sale almost right by the entrance. I figured what in the world is going on? Now I see these huge water trucks driving around the city and distributing bottled water to the stores.

Consumer Report from USA has often told people not to buy bottled water but some folks are "hard to teach and harder to learn."

If you live in some place with terrible, smelly or whatever bad water then maybe buying water is the way to go. With the rest of the population, tap water is the way to go. Save your money. Bottled water is not going to extend your life.

Want to live longer? Go for a walk daily, exercise, stop smoking, stop excessive boozing, stop taking illegal drugs, think positive and maybe watch less TV.

My tap water tastes like crap. It's like getting swimming pool water up your nose.

Bottled water has no taste and it adds no unusual flavor to the coffee or tea.

I've never been one to keep a plastic water bottle with me. If I'm at home I drink from a glass, filtered water.
If I am out in hot summer I'll take a thermos type cup with water or a beverage.
If I'm at a hotel or somewhere they offer a bottle of water, sure I'll take it.
I store water for emergencies and some is in plastic, but in an emergency I won't be concerned as long as the water is clean.

My well water tastes like metal. It smelled like motor oil for a while back in the 80s. The Water Tester who came by said it did indeed have petrol oil mixed in it. He said well water is fed by an aquifer that collects water from up to 80 miles away so it can contain anything from anywhere. I drink bottled water now and for over 30 years. I have a water softener and have had to have other apparatus installed over the years. Nothing improves the taste though.

There were already a couple of threads started about this subject. You may find some of the discussions interesting and informative. My son, who is so health conscious, only drinks bottled water. Good thing we recycle here. I've informed him about the microplastics but I doubt he'll stop.
Average bottle of water contains 240,000 pieces of cancer-causing nanoplastics

The Microplastic Invasion: microplastics can cross placental and brain barriers.
