My Social Life has sure picked up since I joined a On Line Dating Site a few months ago. I was able to put in my Zip Code as well as profile & pictures and the age range and features of females that I was interested in meeting. I am realistic and entered a age range within 10 years of my own. Holy Smokes there are hundreds of females, divorced and widowed within my zip code. This dating site is for 55 years and older. I have met in just the past couple of weeks over 20 ladies for a first contact at Starbuck's.

What an education I am getting from these new contacts. First, most looked exactly the same as the picture they posted online, Secondly, all had been contacted by men much younger that were really looking for a Sugar Momma or men that just wanted to be taken care of. Third, all though they wouldn't rule out marriage, most were like me and just wanted friendship, companionship, joint travel, dining, shows etc.

I have been contacted by females much, much younger than me, obviously looking for a Sugar Daddy. I didn't get to this age of life by being stupid. I have been invited to a Crab Feed next month, actually taken to dinner by two new friends and invited to dinner at their homes by two more. There seems to be about a 10 to one ratio of females to men on this particular dating site. Not surprising given the age range and male mortality.

Hopefully, what I have posted here will be of interest to other senior single men & women that want female companionship.

How does one know or judge the validity of images posted? One might suffer a serious let-down, or worse yet, perhaps even a heart attack upon meeting in person....imp
 

Just a bit of info to anyone considering this option: a few years ago, I had to do reviews of a number of those sites for a work project- I noticed one guy had profiles on 3 different sites, each profile listing a different name, location, and personal info. From that I gleaned individuals are not always who/what/where they claim to be. I also noticed someone I actually knew- his profile didn't mention the fact that he was a crack addict.

Frankly those sites creep me out, but glad to hear you (Lon) had good experiences.

Yeah, you know what they say: "the internet, where men are men, women are men...and children are FBI agents."
 
Good for you ! I wish my sis would go on a dating site . She 77 years old and has been widowed for quite some time . It's definately scary , that's why I don't push her . There's so many more guys than there are women , it pays to be cautious.

In my age group there are many more women. The males die off sooner.
 
I have thought about doing that but as you say the women out number the men and I really don't want to go the younger man route. The safety factor would bother me as I would be worried about being followed home after a meeting or being robbed in the parking lot. You mentioned that your complex has a lot of single women there. None of them interest you?
 
Women who seek men much younger than themselves are known as "cougars".

Some years back a neighbor of ours joined a bereavement group after his wife died. There was a big competition for him.
