...says Putin... ( This man has gone mad IMO)

He's warned that if Finland and Sweden join Nato, they will feel the full force of the Russian army

Russia has issued a chilling warning to its neighbors Sweden and Finland, saying both nations will face 'military consequences' if they join NATO.

Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that such a move in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine would have 'serious military-political repercussions.'

'Finland and Sweden should not base their security on damaging the security of other countries and their accession to NATO can have detrimental consequences and face some military and political consequences,' Zakharova said during a news briefing.

The foreign ministry later reiterated the threat on Twitter.

'We regard the Finnish government's commitment to a military non-alignment policy as an important factor in ensuring security and stability in northern Europe,' the department wrote. 'Finland's accession to @NATO would have serious military and political repercussions.'

Sweden and Finland both border Russia in the Arctic Circle. Vladimir Putin is widely believed to have attacked the Ukraine after western nations mooted the idea of the country joining NATO, over fears it could end up with a US military presence on its doorstep.

A similar move by Sweden or Finland could potentially provoke similar ire.

Possible proof Putin is losing any semblance of sanity...as he continues to ramble from the past in his speech to the Ukrainian army...

Looking dead-eyed into the camera on Friday, Vladimir Putin gave one of the most bizarre speeches of his 22 years as Russia’s leader, a directive that managed to sound alarming even in a week when he has ordered tanks into Ukraine and missile strikes on Kyiv.

“Once again I speak to the Ukrainian soldiers,” he said, addressing his enemy. “Do not allow neo-Nazis and Banderites to use your children, your wives and the elderly as a human shield. Take power into your own hands. It seems that it will be easier for us to come to an agreement than with this gang of drug addicts and neo-Nazis.”

The speech seemed to be ripped from an alternate reality – or from the second world war, where Putin appears to be spending more of his time as he launches the kind of broad military offensive not seen in Europe for nearly 70 years.

All this week, Putin’s megalomaniacal tendencies have been on display like never before. He has summoned his aides for a surreal national security council that resembled a television reality show and launched tirades about Lenin and decisions made nearly 100 years ago.

He has also, for the first time, spoken about his maximalist goals in this war: regime change in Kyiv, toppling the government of Volodymyr Zelenskiy and replacing it with a more pliant leadership. Putin’s call for a coup in Kyiv indicates that if Russia wins this war, Zelenskiy will almost certainly not remain in power. How he achieves that is anyone’s guess.

A number of analysts predicted this as Russia deployed more than 60% of its ground forces to Ukraine’s borders and demanded concessions that could never be granted.

But Putin’s unhinged appearances and apparent drive to war have raised questions of whether he remains a rational leader.

“Despite Crimea and everything else, Putin had always seemed an extremely pragmatic leader to me,” said Tatyana Stanovaya, the founder of R.Politik. “But now when he’s gone in this war against Ukraine, the logic in the decision is all about emotions, it’s not rational.”

Only God knows how this will play out and end. I wish for peace there and actually everywhere.

I think the Baltic states are more likely to suffer.

They have large Russian speaking minorities to use as excuse.
So does New York City... Well maybe not so large, but enough to justify invasion, if it makes sense for Sweden...

There are always rationales for changing borders, but in the interest of peace we decided borders mostly after WWII and need to stick to them.

Otherwise the US could easily justify taking Canada or even Mexico...

I think Putin is showing the early signs of Dementia, much like some of our "Senior" politicians, and he is trying to cement his legacy before he becomes totally incompetent. As such, he presents a huge danger to the entire global population. I just hope there is a more sensible group in the Kremlin that will remove him from power before he creates havoc all over the world.

This is exactly what needs to happen.

"Putin will conquer the world!"

Same pro war propaganda we saw during the Saddam era.

Set all that garbage aside folks. Neither Finland nor Sweden will join NATO as they remain decidedly NEUTRAL in all war as they did during the Cold War.

He was allowed to get away with the Crimea:

If he gets away with the Ukraine we sink back into the abyss.
That's right, Laurie: All the Baltic countries, Lithuanian, Latvia and Estonia have a least 25% Russian population. To make matters worse, all of these 3 countries used to belong to the old USSR. I'm sure mad Putin would love to have them rejoin the great "Motherland" of the Russian Empire. The sad thing is that all 3 countries want their freedom and don't want to join Putin's paradise.

He has lost his mind and needs to be assassinated.
I agree, I do feel strongly that he's lost his mind. In a western Civilisation, any leader showing obvious signs of mental ill health such as this, would be relieved of their post even if it was behind the scenes and not announced publicly.. but Putin seems to have sole and complete charge of his parliament...what his own cabinet ministers are thinking of this situation is anyone's guess.. the Opposition in Russia is roundly condemning his actions against Ukraine

The way things are going here in the USA/World putin picked a perfect time to act on his plans. Make no mistake he is not an idiot and he is ruthless. More than likely he will take more countries before the governments of the world take him seriously. This has all happened before. It is nothing new. A big war will thin down the worlds population and be a Boon to the economies of the world. A great reset if you will. At least this is one way to look at it.
