Sweet Revenge!!!

I'm not talking about some massive problem that might mean plotting some major revenge attack I mean when someone does something to you which annoys you enough for you to want to get your own back in a small way.

For example he who must be obeyed is always moaning if I turn the heating on if it's not at least 10 degrees below zero outside ..I have to wear more clothes than enough when it's cold to keep warm in the house because he's so frugal with the heating, always turning it off etc..( it's not that we can't afford it) but for some reason every penny spent on heating really gets him irritated..

I'm getting to the point here now...bear with me...

I came home from work tonight very tired after a long day then after picking up the grocery shopping and everything before finally getting home over 13 hours after I left this morning. Before I had a chance to even take my jacket off he snapped my head off about nothing at all..I was side-swiped, I didn't see it coming he just went into a rant at me cuz he'd had a bad day at work, then he downed a couple of glasses of wine and stormed off to bed ( I was left standing there thinking HuH)?:dunno:

....it's not the first time he's taken his work frustrations out on me and it gets very old very quickly...so I thought how do I get back at him without this turning into a full on fight when he gets up in the morning..?

You guessed it...I waited till he was snoring his head off, and then I turned all the heating on.LoL.....I'm all cosy and warm without 6 layers on.. , he won't know cuz he's asleep ..and now I have sweet revenge...:eek:k:

...sooooo...Have you ever meted out Sweet revenge to someone without them realising?

Yes, Holly, I once (I was very young) put an ad for services available on the bathroom wall of a local restroom, referencing my Exboyfriend's abilities. He received some very interesting proposals over the telephone! The ad was removed quickly by management but not soon enough to prevent him going postal. He was my one and only experiment in dating a man suffering from rectal-cranial inversion. yikes! To this day, he does not know it was me. I still laugh. Don't mess with Celts! Lol.

Oh dear Holly what a tale of woe, you seem to have one hell of a life, working all hours, suffering back pain and then being made to live in a fridge.

This heating issue in my experience is very common, certainly in the UK, lots of old people especially never put the heating on unless there is frost on the furniture, its often nothing to do money as they have plenty. I guess its something to do with it being wasteful or extravagant?
Its a different matter if you can't afford it of course.

One tip I got from a radio programme, is the fact that it takes a couple of days to heat up the structure of a brick/stone house and if you leave the heating on 24 hours a day, the consumption is not much more than switching it on and off when you aren't there.
The main reason is that you can drop the thermostat down a few degrees and still be comfortable, as the whole house structure is warm. We do this during the cold weather times in the winter, and the boiler comes on a lot less. You can tell that to lord and master :king:

Regarding Sweet revenge I probably have in the past but I don't think it lasts very long does it

LOL Merlin... I don't actually live in a fridge we had the whole house insulated a couple of years ago, so it does keep it warmer than it was before but sometimes it does get really cold..and it's uncomfortable for me..Oh, I don't think the o/h at 54 would be happy to be called an Old Person..haha!! i can just see his face if I said that to him!!

That said, I have suggested to his nibs on several occasions to do exactly what you said but he won't have it, he's has an Electronics and engineering brain and it just doesn't compute with leaving the thing on for a 24 hour stretch..I think he'd have a heart attack at the thought of all the money it's using just in 24 hours..LOL..well, I'm only Half kidding..

LOL..Shali..well as a Celt to my very Bones I can not disagree with you chikadee...never mess with a Celt..particularly a Celtic lassie.. :D

Evenin' Kadee it's gone 10.30pm now and I'm on my last legs, it's been a long day.. just thinking of crawling up the stairs to Bedfordshire..:yawning:

Holly and Merlin, our house is very cosy now as we took advantage of a Scottish plan for getting efficient heating into homes. So now it's comfy all the time.

We have friends in a huge old house where it's always freezing! When we go to dinner there we wear long underwear, two fleeces, heavy socks....

Such a coincidence. Just a couple of days ago another woman I know was moved to vent her frustrations in a closed FB group about a very similar domestic dispute. And sure enough a key issue was where the thermostat was set. In her case she got no sweet revenge. I really feel sorry for both of you. I just can't imagine any significant other not appreciating the hell you've been going though and doing everything in his power to make your life easier. In the case of the other woman I mentioned, she has chronic back pain too.

Morning, Kadee. How are you today?
Morning I'm up early have a Girl friend coming today for a few days, then we are off to Adelaide for a two days, on our own leaving hubby home , she is widowed we enjoy a couple of days just doing what we want without having to cook, clean
:)

Have a lovely trip Kadee, really enjoy your chill out time.. :D

Holly, I'm going to have to think about your original question - I'm sure I can think of some instance of "sweet revenge" I've experienced. But as for your situation, OMG, Holly - "he who must be obeyed" needs to wake up and smell the coffee (no pun intended)! The guy should worship the ground you walk on considering what you endure every day!
:yougogirl:

At my last job, the boss had this same fixation about heat. She would have a fit if we turned on the heat, and the thermostat was in her office, so she had control of it. Additionally, there were no heating vents in the part of the office where staff worked and it got REALLY cold. We brought in a couple space heaters and she threw a tantrum (we used 'em anyway). It was still so cold in our section that we had to wear long underwear, and fleece pants on really cold days, and we worked with our coats or jackets on. She turned the heat off completely at night and on weekends.

It's not that she didn't have the money, and she kept her part of the office warm. I think she was just plain mean. She was this way about a lot of stuff, but the heat was the worst problem.

You know Holly, a small squirt bottle filled with cool water will help him if he's too hot. :playful: You can always remind him too that he can save a lot more on heat if he lived alone. :p The must be obeyed thing...hope that's a playful exaggeration, or a heart to heart would be an order. :love_heart: Can't think of a sweet revenge offhand, but if one comes to me, I'll add to the mix!

What a terrible working environment, Butterfly.

Yeah, it was. I stayed there because I was so close to when I planned to retire and couldn't have gotten another job with the same pay for the time I had left. Turns out I left about 6 months before I had planned to, because my hip arthritis got so bad I could hardly walk anymore and, since I couldn't get any accommodation for my situation, I just left. Got my hips replaced a few months later and now I zip around again. My assistant left a few weeks after I did -- she got a much better job with HEAT!
