Tattoos in Elderly Women

Do you realize that in about 40 years time, we’ll have countless thousands of old ladies doddering around with tattoos all over them ?

Men have been tattooed since the Dinosaurs, women's bodily art form is a modern thing.

We are talking of Western cultures, not tribal.

Does a "decorated" body of 70 years old sound enhancing to you ? Because it certainly does not to me. URGH !
 
40 years from now Westerners won't be judgmental about older people sporting tattoos. Tats are part of their culture, just as men wearing earrings or longer hair is part of ours.

My three children are in their thirties. They're rarities among their peer group because they're tattoo-free. As it happens, their spouses each have a small tattoo or two.

Agreed.
 
Having spent a sporting life, mixing with the best and the worst, plus serving many years in the Royal Navy and Army Airborne, just like Mohammad Ali I found no need to adorn my body with graffiti.
 
I have news for you John Bull...there's already a lot of 0lder women with tattoos, no need to wait 40 years .. but anyway, technology has moved on from the 1950's...people can now choose to have them lasered off if they feel they are age inappropriate...


I dislike tattoos..but people can do what they like with their own bodies... and goodness only knows I've seen some horrible saggy, faded tattoos on a lot of old MEN!!

While I agree here.....Tattoos do say something about a persons personality , male or female. Why the need for extra attention?
 
I never understood the tattoo thing. If they lasted only a few years that would be different but I don't believe my mind today is the same as it was at 18 thank God. To each his/her own but when it comes to tattoos, more is not necessarily better especially on the face.
 
Unless the ink has gotten a whole lot better than the past, in 40 years or sooner the tats are just going to look like a bunch of bad bruises, like old guys' do now. I haven't been swimming this year but in the past few years a lot of them were starting to look like that anyway on relatively young people.

Young or old tattoos and piercings are definitely not for me but, I'm willing to bet that you will see more than one doddering old lady with several tattoos and a smile on her face sitting in the corner of the old folks home remembering the reasons why and where she had each tattoo done.

I am one of those bodies of whom you speak....not quite 70 yet, but give me a 5 years. ;) Except I wasn't young when I chose to decorate my body, it's all been done in the last few years. I love my ink!! :) There is symbolism to each tattoo I have, deep meaning, importance.

I have 7 different tattoos so far, and plan on getting more, and also plan on having some additional work done on several of the ones I currently have. Here are the latest two, once on each bicep. I'm Australian by birth, and I'm also a mother to 5,(I consider motherhood my most important accomplishment!) so these images symbolize both my heritage and motherhood, which is why each has a baby.

It's fine with me if you find these repugnant. To each his own. I didn't choose to get tattoos to please anyone else but myself. They are for ME. What others think about them is none of my business, nor do I care! :love_heart:

It's a personal preference, and I don't judge people on whether they have a tattoo or not. BTW Ronni, yours look very sweet. :) I have a small light pastel colored on an area that can only been seen if I wear a French-cut bikini, I got it 35 years ago and it still looks as nice today as it did when I had it done. It was exposed to sunlight very few times, so the colors, even though light, never faded.
