The 2024 Olympics in Paris

I'm not one for sport but I do appreciate the incredible diving and swimming, along with gymnastics. The rowing was exciting.

I do however find the power walking and some other sports rather absurd. I do wonder at some of the sports and why they are in the Olympics at all.

I dislike dressage and will not watch it, especially as I saw a video recently of a former female champion whipping a horse to train it.
Agreed, I find it disturbing and just wrong.

Currently watching Men's Beach Volleyball, Sweden vs Cuba. I used to play volleyball on the beach, living in Manhattan Beach/Hermosa Beach during highschool.
Thanks for the heads up. I have been watching coverage on the Gold Zone and they are concentrating on golf. I can watch golf any weekend..lol. Switching over to the volleyball.

Big controversy in the women's skeet competition ! Seems the British shooter may have gotten robbed of a gold medal. There is no instant replay in skeet shooting.

The women's high jump was an exciting finish. Although the woman from Ukraine missed her final jump she won the gold medal because the next contender from Australia missed her attempt also. Yaroslava Mahuchikh appeared to be relived to win the gold but made one more attempt to break the world record but missed the jump.

This retired peon, has only been watching OTA broadcast NBC mainly daytime LIVE, while on my laptop computer as have no premium telecom services. And can say have been quite happy with their presentations including their expert announcers. There have been some exceptional joyous emotional moments for Americans and other athletes from around the world. Many of these athletes have spent years developing their world class skills that are played out in brief contests they use every ounce of effort in their human bodies to succeed at. Video technology today provides some incredible close-ups with new ways to watch competitions as never before.

I watched a lo more tv with the Olympics than I normally watch in a year. I enjoyed watching the little girls from LA in gymnastics. Very impressive.

I think we could see some running records broke during the finals.

I'm hoping to catch some skateboarding, just missed an event this afternoon.🙂↕️
Tomorrow there's supposed to be Taekwondo, but the "when" and "what channel" is still subject to the whims of the Dish TV program directors.

Finally, Taekwondo match, Men(TUN vs AUS) on Dish channel 298. The referee is too much of a 'mother hen', won't let them spar.
Women up now(IRI vs ESP). Different referee.

Was watching womans track and think it was the 400m hurdles and couldn't believe how easy she qualified and ran her races and yet other competitors struggling giving it their all to qualify. I saw this is several track qualifying heats ie the ease in which many just cruise across the finish line.

What's different in their training, diet etc or one must have the genes?

I'm watching the skateboarding right now. Saw some earlier when my son was here.. we watched the 51 year old Andy McDonald. I remember when my son had a skateboard and came home with a broken tooth trying out some move or other.

Right now: Men's boxing (FRA vs ESP). Program guide says Middleweight, they look like Heavyweights. Googled it, at 92kg they are in fact Super-Heavyweights.
Interesting, just noticed that the Men are not wearing headgear, although the Women I've seen earlier were. Rules changed in 2016 apparently.
