The 2024 Olympics in Paris

Men's boxing 63.5kg(welterweight/Super lightweight). Cuba vs France. Some feisty boxers, evenly matched. Cuba wins lightweight finals.

Eh I don't worry about medal counts because less than a week after they are over it will be a trivia question only a few can answer correctly off the top of their head.

I'm noticing some different things going on in track and field with the running and sprinting. Saw a sprinter raise their hand to stop the start of the race(head game). I saw women runner not react to the ready start and somehow got a second chance. The Chinese sprinters made the finals of 4x100. And can't believe how some of the sprinters just go on cruse control after they know or think they won the heat. One day that will catch up to them.

I saw where a couple of the field hockey teams tried to pretend they were in the NHL. Saw in the news not on tv coverage.

I have no idea where these thoughts come from, but I was wondering what events an Olympic team from the Vatican (which technically could happen as the Vatican State is technically a country) would participate in.

The Wafer Toss?

The Deep Knee Bend?

The Holy Water Fling?

The Ruler Whack? (Teaching Nuns only)

Ok, I'm so going to hell for this.....

I watched the basketball final that was over about an hour ago. I never doubted the American team not winning the gold. Stephen Curry was probably the heto today with making his 3-pointers late in the game. Durant and James were pretty consistent throughout the game.

I thought the officiating was questionable on some of their calls. Two of the Officials looked very young to be working such a high level game, but they were probably a bit nervous being in that position.

The important thing is that the U.S. won the gold.

EDIT: I also watch the ladies soccer earlier today and win the gold.

Jordan Chiles had to give up the bronze medal after it was taken back from the Romanian gymnast for a score adjustment. Where are they finding these Mickey Mouse judges who give a score, change the score, and then change it back again while giving medals to and then taking them back from the athletes? How crushing that must be for them! 🥺

Right now, I’m watching the women’s volleyball championship for the gold. It appears the U.S. didn’t come to play. It looks like they are going to lose 3-0. It makes me wonder how they got this far.

Earlier I watched Women's Basketball, U.S.A beating France for the Gold Medal. Later on watched the Gold Medal presentation, the young ladies looking very proud but humble.
I watched the first half and they didn't look at all sharp. They had a mess of turnovers and missed shots from under the basket. Their play in the first half had me worried. At the start of the second half, they came out looking the same as they played in the first half. It was the first time that they were not leading at halftime.

With the wins in basketball and cycling, it put the U.S. tied with China at 40 each in the number of gold medals. Overall number of medals, the U.S. has a superior lead 123 to China's 91.

Overall, the U.S. did a very good job of showing how much training our athletes put into their training. I did notice that our athletes are younger than previously. Also, I learned that the coaches of the teams that receive a medal do not also get a medal. Is that right?

2024 Olympics medal count: Tracker for how many gold, silver, bronze medals USA, nations are winning in Paris
Can't get into medal counts. And the Russians have been absent. Albeit they may be cheating, doping etc they still always fielded a competitive team in most events. Which could've pressured other teams and athletes to do things differently. Those in attendance probably a little better at their doping etc.

I do like it when the usual suspects don't get the medals. I admire those small third world/ish countries that field a team, compete and even medal on occasion.

One of the things I noticed in many of the track events is that after the race the runners would lay down seconds after completing the race. I was always told don't lay or sit down immediately after a hard run or physical exertion because standing and slow walking helps blow flow and a gradual slow/cool down.

Some races it seems the runners were sprawled out all over the ground like the bowling pins just hit by the ball.
