The Best Place To Hide Your Cash According To A Burglar

He advises leaving some cash in obvious places as a decoy (something I do) so the thief doesn't tear up your house looking. He also said that if you live in an upscale community, but only leave $100 (the suggested amount for we regular folks), that's suspicious and a burglar will keep looking. Two places he recommended were in a child's room and bolted down safe. Not everyone has those options. I've always heard that if you hide money in a book, no one will find it. Well, except my son. He found $100 in a hotel bible years ago. 🤑 The thief also advised:
"If you do hide money someplace around the house, make sure that your significant other (or someone close) knows where your hiding place is. If something unfortunate happens to you and nobody knows where your hidden stash is, it’s unlikely that they will be able to find it if a burglar isn’t able to find it. Worse, it could very easily be accidentally thrown away depending on where it is hidden."

He also gave an example of someone hiding money inside electronics which are also likely to be stolen, so bad idea. The article features products one can use to hide money.

And has anyone ever heard of skid-mark underwear? Another alternative for hiding money.
Skid Mark Safe- Disgusting, But If It Works...

It's funny that after my grandpa died my parents found money hidden all over the place, and since they talked about it at home you would have thought they wouldn't do it themselves, but when my mom was dying she told my brother to tell me that she had money hidden. Sighhhh, so I had to go through every folder and book and drawer etc etc, at least I got a reward sometimes (didn't add up to very much).

The idea of hiding a little ‘bait’ money is good when in public.

A thief might assume that all you were carrying was a few dollars and you wouldn’t need to flash a lot of cash when making a purchase.

My father used to keep his in the freezer, wrapped and labeled as venison.

I remember an old episode of Perry Mason where a person hid several thousand dollars by inserting them into a window shade and allowing it to roll up.

I suppose that you could hide your life savings in the kitty litter pan. 😉🤭😂

My son works in retirement villages as a painter. When someone passes away different trades come into the rooms and strip them and redecorate them. He rang me one day to say he removed all the paper lining on the kitchen shelves and discovered lots of cash, amounting to hundreds of dollars. I told him to count it all out, put it into an envelope and hand it in to the office
with your name and phone no. and ask for a receipt from them. He did that and got a call from the lady's son thanking him
for being honest.

the easiest solution seems to me - don't have cash of any significant amount in your home.

I never have more than few hundred dollars at most, which would be in my wallet - no hidden stashes or safes .
It’s suggested to have something like cash somewhat easily available so thieves will be content with that and leave. If they can’t immediately find something to sell, they will tear other things apart. That can be a major mess and even more costly to you. Bottom line, they’re after money. If they’ve broken in, let them take the path of least resistance.

Well that is a theory.

But I'm not planning to leave cash around on that account.

I have a large old apple cider jar with only silver and folded dollar bills just sitting in a corner. Other than that I don't keep large amounts at home. Sometimes a $100 in my underwear drawer.
Burglars search in underwear drawers, as many people use them to hide money.
Perhaps a box with unwashed stinky underwear might be better :ROFLMAO:
