The "F" word topic shut down?

When a fellow, wearing a clerical dog collar, explains that the word is an acronym dating back to a time when adultery was a law of the land. Those, who the courts said were guilty, were known to be: Found Under Carnal Knowledge. It really was most disconcerting. I mean, priests and profanities, not your everyday topic.

Wow! Didn't know that 👆

Why? No one was aggressive or foul mouthed.
I was going to contribute - "Are we talking about F Troop?
One of those great shows never to be seen again
It has to do with the No Politics rule. We are not supposed to talk about US presidents because it can often lead to emotions getting riled . Then after it does that some of the members might exchange rude talk.

What did the Prime Minister of Hiroshima say when the atom bomb went off?
"What the f.... was that !!!"

It's only a word and if said in malaise can be offensive, but said in jest can be quite funny. Just my opinion.
What the phoque, that's the seal of approval, I hope you saw what I did there
Remember we got the convicts and they got the Puritans.

F Troop is on you tube.
I did post a video but someone’s put something at the start that wouldn’t pass muster on here( No idea why they did it-a political message).
But I’ve watched a few.

Phar Cough, what a double standard.
An Australian political post remains despite being reported and my calling the post out.

I think the double standard might actually lie with the forum members themselves, which then forces moderation to respond accordingly.

In general, discussions about world politics, or the politics of individual nations, tend to stay reasonably respectful and mature. But as soon as two-dimensional American politics enters the mix, all hell often breaks loose.

This forum made itself clear well before I joined: no American politics. Unfortunately, due to the US's influence on global affairs, its politics inevitably spill into broader world discussions from time to time. That’s when political discussions here run the risk of turning childishly nasty.

We, as members, then put a moderator in a tough spot. A moderator might attempt to either clean up a cascade of posts without breaking the thread’s flow (no small task), close it, or delete the whole thing because it can’t be tidied up without losing the flow. It’s probably so time-consuming and fiddly at times that removing a thread becomes the only realistic option.

But hey, it doesn't matter in the minds of some -- because it’s always someone else's fault, regardless of where we stand. What’s really required is a bit of collective maturity -- something that can be in short supply when emotions run high.

There are always those members who know the rules but still refuse to steer well clear of the triggers. Very frustrating for the original poster.

Also there's the grey area between current affairs and politics, on the world scale. Some issues are inseparable by having a foot in each camp.
This is why the rule is no *partisan* politics... meaning we can talk about any topics as long as blaming and name-gaming doesn't start. As soon as someone feels they're above the rules and names a politician or a politician's policies, everyone else pays the price. I personally think (don't quote me, I'll deny it :giggle: ) that there may be a few members who get a kick out of "naming names" just to watch the havoc and aftermath. At our ages, I hope I'm wrong, but it seems to be an overwhelming compulsion for a small handful to do just that.

I remember, many decades ago, dissecting a dead rat in front of a class of not so bright girls. I drew their attention to the contents of the large intestine, telling them "these are the faecal pellets".

They hadn't a clue what I was talking about, so I told them that they were "poo pellets".

Afterwards I mused about the different words in the English language for the same thing. If I had told them that the pellets were "sh-t" I would have lost my job but really, faeces, poo and sh-t are all just different words for exactly the same thing.

Why do people think that f--k you is much more offensive than scr-w you?
Surely both refer to the same action?

Altho the F word is my favorite word I avoided that particular thread. No one wants my input and I could get into trouble I don't need. I need to be here for my mental health, so please let me stay. BTW, Phuk you and the horse you rode in on.

My mind wandered to an Austin Powers movie scene for some reason. I need to take myself outside and have a word with myself.
