The historic farm water pump

Yes they do work very well.
When I was a young child my family stayed with my Grampa, he had a water pump.
I remember (pump,pump,pump.) (squeak,squeak,squeak)
Some of my family out of state still have them. Most of course have both pumps and modern tap running water.
That's a good memory!
I forgot the squeek part. 😁😆😅

It was helpful to fill large watering cans to water vegetable plants, and also was useful to wash off hands and gardening tools.

Pump, pump, pump....squeak, squeak, squeak 🙃😊🤣🤣😃

My childhood neighbor "old Elmer" had no electric or plumbing in the house so had a well pump. He liked me enough that I was allowed to use it any time I wandered by, I always appreciated that cold clean water.

When I was a kid there were still a few of these wooden water pumps around, most of them were pretty well worn out and rotten.

Wooden Water Pumps

The farmers used to use these old ram pumps to pump large volumes of water uphill to provide water for home and farm, watering livestock etc…

They make a popping sound on the order of a loud heartbeat as they pump.

Sort of a perpetual motion machine.
