The scammers are busy…

I must have gotten 30 text messages giving me "one last and final chance" to renew my car warranty. I have also gotten the McAfee and Norton expiration notices - danger, danger, danger, renew immediately. Or, a purchase has been made in the amount of $500 or $600 or $1000 on whatever credit card but you need to call this number to verify your purchase. It is all so tiresome.

Aussie couple Luke and Tiffany Hale spent 5 years saving $60,000 deposit on their first house. They sent the payment in an email to their estate agent but the hackers stole it and their money suddenly disappeared. Business email compromise scams target consumers paying large invoices. They hack the email accounts of businesses then send out invoices with their own bank account details replacing the legitimate payment details. So clever, so heartbreaking.

I keep getting repeated notices from Firefox (the browser that I often use) to click on a link to update to the latest version of Firefox. So far, I have ignored it, but am wondering if it could be on the level. How are you supposed to know?

Yesterday I received an innocent-looking text asking me to click on a link to update my Netflix account information.

I've never had a Netflix account.

Be careful!
Same here, also no chase account.
Blocking
For Android phones

  • You can block unwanted text messages on an Android phone by blocking the number with just a few taps.
  • You can block numbers from within your text messaging app, but the exact process depends on which app you use.
  • If you can't find the option to block, you can install the Google Messages app and use that app instead.
  • To block a message, select it and choose "Details" from the menu, then choose "Block & report spam."

Well, it just happened..a call from the government saying
I was getting a $9,000 Grant...Free.. didn't have to pay back.

Yah! Yah! From a guy who could hardly speak English.🙄

Well, I wasted his time..by ranting about all that I was gonna do with the money...NOT!

Can you believe he hung up on me?🤔😊😅😂

Please, ALL, be very careful!!

The biggest scam is grocery stores not giving you the sale price on products you buy. They think you don't check. Watch them ring it up and then double check your receipt. I went to Kroger this morning and things were not ringing up correct once again. Happens every week!

Well, so far this week, I got a number of calls that my ll phone ignores, a text about a bank I do not have an account with, an e-mail that my e-mail provider has a problem with my CC, and a number of scam calls on my smathphone. Boy the scammers are busy!

Yea, they got me last week, of course didn't realize that I didn't get the "3 for $x.xx" discount until the wife checked the receipt, after I got home. :censored:

Latest for me was email to my Outlook acct telling me that bleh bleh Finance had 6million plus dollars to deposit to my bank account and to please send details of account and my address via a link so that they could send me a form for my signature to authorize deposit

...but you know.... damn, damn... I cannot sign my name right now as some of you may know I had thumb removed from right hand and still not healed.....just my luck eh!Faint.gif

Take the receipt back to the store and make them give you the cash. Now you know, check the receipt at the store. They don't ring up at the correct price or they double scan something going so fast. May not be much but when it happens every week it adds up!
