The Ugly Truth About Avocados and Avocado Oil

an eye opener... by Dr Eric Berg....

I'm so glad I don't like Avocados
Me too! I checked out what he said on Consumer Lab, and verified that a lot of what Dr Berg said is accurate. CL mostly discussed avocado oils.

Consumer Lab is a reputable source for testing and reviewing health, wellness, and nutrition products, with a high credibility rating and a pro-science bias. It is known for providing evidence-based information and conducting independent evaluations of dietary supplements.

I have not tasted a naturally flavored strawberry in years bought in a store either. I can't stomach these you buy today
There is a huge difference in the taste of real strawberries, and those sold in stores. I went to a gardening shop a couple of decades ago. The owner was a former accountant who decided to get off that ride. He and I hit it off and he gave me the last pint of strawberries he had. They were small and bursting with flavor. I sat there and ate them all. I was astonished at the flavor difference between those and the ones sold in grocery stores.

A young nutritionist talked me into trying avocados when I had prediabetes....... Nothing, I got nothing. I ended up just eating better regular foods and exercising and reversed it.

you are so correct. We have the Pick your own strawberry farms around here, and the taste of shop bought and the farm strawberries are like almost as if you're eating a different fruit...and some of the supermarket Strawberries are the size of your palm..

excatly ...if people are not wiling to do their own research and believe nonsense spouted by uneducated people on a forum then that's their lookout.. but others like yourself .. are very willing to learn, and know what's good for our bodies..

Dr. Eric Berg's motives are questionable. The only problem I have with avocados is having them perfectly ripe when I want them.
I don;t think his motives are questionable when it comes to avocados and avocado oils.. or many other things come to that, he could easily be sued for millions if he didn't have his facts absolutely right... but Babs..no-one is telling you to believe him, or telling you to change what you eat.... this thread is for people to make their own minds up...

Thank you. I have always loved doing research, thanks to my curiosity about nearly everything.

I completely agree about making up ones own mind. And it is no surprise that avocados might be overrated.

Even-though I like Avocados I never buy them because of the uncertainty with ripening. Coincidentally, DW went to the store this morning and bought 3 avocados, they are rock hard now but will have to keep a close eye on them for the next day or 2.
I like bananas but during the warm weather they go through a quick ripening cycle, so I've not been getting them this season.

I don't like them enough to warrant the high calorie count, but my son and husband love them so I top their salads with them once in a while.
