Mexican drug cartels have become heavily involved in the avocado industry, primarily in Michoacán, Mexico. They have diversified from only drug trafficking to also extorting avocado farmers, controlling supply chains, and using violence to profit from the lucrative "green gold" trade. AKA blood avocados, at least here in North America. Not something you hear much about in the news.

Same thing is happening in Greece and Italy with Olive oils

Like all other foods, will continue eating them and not get lost in scare stories.

I glad I never bought into the avocado trendy trap. No taste, just bland pretentious junk to me. My local store even stopped carrying them.

Yeah, that's what I thought. A 'chiropractor' with an interest in people's nutritional health, pushing food supplements. Dr. Berg | Health and Fitness News, Courses, Recipes, Natural Remedies I'm sure he makes a considerable amount of money out of it.

Depends on what is healthy for you.

If you are trying to lose weight, sure, go easy on avocados, they are calorie dense.

I am in healthy weight range so a healthy salad to me is one full of nutritious ingredients. I include avocado in that.

Avocados have to be just so to be good. I personally love them…but it is hard to find good ones these days. They use a lot of water to grow…so that is a problem.
