Things that don't make sense.

What do you think of Typhoo tea?
Haven't had much tea lately but used to enjoy Yorkshire Gold. Had kind of a malty flavor to me.
I'm the wrong person to ask tbh..I really dislike Typhoo.. PG tips.. Tetley and Yorkshire tea, because atho' I drink tea all day long, mine has to be very weak.. and the aforesaid are all builders tea...(strong)...we drink tea in the UK like Americans drink coffee... so with regard to flavoured fruit teas they are generally only drunk occasionally

@hollydolly The way I combat bitterness in the dark teas is by using this pour over rather than traditional steeping.
I use the same pour over for coffee. Takes about 3minutes to drain the water down over the coffee or tea in their filters.
A little less maybe for tea because I use less water for tea. 10oz for coffee and 6-7oz for tea.
The result is the best I've found but everyone finds there own technique I guess.

EDIT: For loose tea and coffee, I use #2 coffee filters in the pour over.

Oh ... and I have an electric water kettle to bring water to a precise temperature before dumping into the pour over.
But most of the time I just heat water in a measuring cup in the microwave. Close enough for coffee and tea ;)

I don't drink tea, but Mrs.L likes Earl Grey. She also likes various fruit teas that we buy in Europe and bring back from our holidays.

As for things that don't make much sense, I've wonder about Ads on TV for 'food banks' because of the 'cost of living crisis' followed by ads. for very expensive holidays.

Although the subject deserves its own thread, it also fits the societal nonsense category for this thread.

California highway and freeway vehicle speed laws and how they are not enforced. When I was young, vehicle speed laws were more often enforced. In 1973 during a period of inflation, the 55mph national vehicle speed laws were set up for the purpose of using less gasoline. But enforcement was piecemeal with significant regions ignoring that policy, especially in rural area of The West.

Driving 55mph was roundly hated to the extent that did not last long. Afterward police began ignoring all manner of speed limits however due to advocates for the less physically capable drivers like elderly and misconceptions about how speeding effects traffic deaths, laws have not changed. Eventually the 85th percentile system became common. Also influencing such were "speed trap" revenues. Rural towns especially used it as a revenue source for outsiders.

Is Every Speed Limit Too Low? - Priceonomics

Like a lot of societal problems, this person sees the above as an example of many seemingly intractable controversial issues that if I was Emperor of the Universe, could quickly solve whatever. Of course, many would scream, throwing fits, frothing at the mouth, especially those that push supposed rights. One example I've been suggesting on public media for many years addressing the above subject was just signed into law yesterday by Governor Newsom as a trial program in a few of our cities.

Automatic speed cameras will be placed in several cities. Other cities in the East had done this previously and indeed that caused a dramatic decrease in speeding that basically is about changing behavior using pain. Advocates for the poor and groups like the ACLU have blocked such endlessly but their influence is ending as common sense will increasingly prevail. In this era there are many ways we can improve our world using technology, especially given the ability for transparency and reasonable oversight in this telecom era.

California Governor Decides Fate of Speed Cameras in Six Cities

In like manner, I've been promoting especially on our Nextdoor community site the use of ALPR cameras here in Santa Clara County where thieves from Alameda County (Oakland), regularly drive south and cause a list of crimes. For years there was much advocate push back but now citizens have had enough and they are being increasingly deployed.

How can I drop something and spend five minutes on my knees searching for it but never find it? Then an hour later walk back thru there and the lost item is right there large as an elephant painted day glo pink? Makes no sense.
And related: how can I drop something and instead of falling straight down--which is the way gravity works, after all--it lands about 3 feet away so not only do I have to bend over but I have to walk some ways to retrieve it! Terrible!

..equally, how can you drop something in a room which has a bare floor, and no clutter and never find it again..ever ?

So true; I'm still looking for a pair of reading glasses, that last I remembered using them was while sitting on the loveseat in our living room about 2 months ago...I'm still looking for them.
exactly that.... One notable moment was when I was a girl I rarely got any presents.. but for one birthday my mother bought me a signet ring and so it was very dear to me . I wasn't permitted to wear jewellery at Girl guides, so I popped it into my tunic pocket..., when I got home I bent over and the ring fell out onto the livingroom floor.. both my mother and I searched for it, couldn't find it.. and when we moved house, and the room was empty we felt sure we would find it then... but no..it had completely disappeared , and yet there was no cracks it could have dropped into:unsure:

So occasionally in my household that they have, in fact, never been drunk here.

Honestly, I'd like a stronger tea. Sounds to me, Holly, you'd be just as happy with water. :D

It is the little often obscure things that make me said WHAT?
places deciding to NOT enforce laws or requirements .... take them off the books the n not a selective enforcement thing.
as more like this happens it is NO wonder why people simply do not buy into these "good for all laws/ regulations"

example bike helmets......... we were all told about head injuries and long term cost and effect and how important bike helmets are....... last year Seattle said they were removing the requirement ... Why .... because the poor got most of the tickets for riding without one....
the real risk and long term effects of head injury have NOT changed ... the outcome was totally predictable but they did not see it???

Why is it that every murder victim on those true crime TV shows was the greatest human being that ever walked the earth? They were always the salt of the earth, universally loved and adored. Why is it that there was never some SOB, who needed killing? Like, X was such a SOB that there was a lottery, and if you won, you got to strangle X. And people were standing in line to buy lottery tickets.

didn't we have this same conversation last week ?

So if it's cooked and safe to eat the way it is, I wonder why the FDA requires them to put "Cook thoroughly" on the package?
Strange.
Is it the FDA or is because of lawyers? Is it because if it's improperly stored at too high of a temp bacteria can grow? Just my thoughts on something I don't know anything about.
