Things that go BOOM in the night.

I was getting ready for bed last night and about 1am I heard a number of large booms. This went on for about 4 minutes and I was waiting for a siren to start, thinking there had been an explosion nearby, but nothing. This morning, I checked on the internet and many people reported hearing these same
noises but the authorities cannot explain where they came from. It's very strange. I thought it might have been a sonic boom, but no aircraft were reported in the area. On further checking the internet these same noises have been reported across some states in America.

Has anybody experienced these same noises.?

yes we do occasionally and the authorities always deny all knowledge until a day or 2 later, then they admit something was going on...

Landfills use explosives to discourage birds.
Military bases train at night.
One boom is often an expulsion fuse protecting power lines or a transformer.
Rednecks.

Not here but ... I have heard of the same thing being reported off our east coast. One of the magazine channels [travel , history] etc. even did a program about it. But no determination was made as to cause / source .

I hear booms in the daytime that come from a military base detonating munitions. Some rattle my house and windows. At night, I hear booms from the gunfire of area rednecks shooting at groundhogs. Sure hope that the gun-loving fools know the difference in the dark between groundhogs and cats… 🙀

I'm so weird! 🤪 I was just reading this thread and my mind pointed out that
BOOM backwards is MOOB. And I'm thinking we all know what that means. I
need to get a hobby. :ROFLMAO:

Sometimes they're blowing up beaver dams.

Are there any negative effects to blowing up beaver dams with Tannerite? I understand the positive purpose is to keep the river flowing in the desired direction, not killing trees, and lowering the water level. And I understand the Beavers aren't living in the dams they build. But I feel something is wrong here when man messes with nature. What is it?

The dams cause flooding in residential areas and local governments need help funding their removal, if they are left alone. We are dealing with this in parts of western PA, at the moment.
