This is weird,a heart attack?

So I had the cateract surgery on Wednesday,a few hours later at home I
get this big pain just below the left rib cage. Took the usual pain
medication, it doesnt work. Daughter comes over " you need to go to the
hospital that could be a heart attack."
At the hospital the admitting nurse checks me out and says "where does it

hurt " I showed her just below the left rib cage. She says your blood is really
high so we're going to admit you. She tells my daughter "its a possible
heart attack" and she goes nuts. Never had any problems with the heart ever.
In the exam room the doc orders the usual EKG and again high blood

pressure. Next Im transfered to my suite room.(real fancy room with all the furniture)
Hour later Im being transferred to a room that does the thread mill test

then to a room where its called Atomic Imaging room, back to the thread
mill again then another Imaging check. All this time I still have that pain
but a little less.
Back to the room, the chief of the cardiology comes in with the report

and tells me "we ruled out a heart attack"
And ask me to show him the exact spot where the pain is,Im pointing to

the last rib at the bottom of the rib cage.
He seems to get kinda piss off and left the room and went back to review

all the films of the area. Back again "it looks like the muscle near the
spleen and kidney is whats hurting you, asked I picked anything heavy and
bend over the wrong way, dont remember. He reminded me that I should see my own
physician and prepared the discharge papers. He leaves..
Now here's where it gets weird, another doctor comes in and suggestes an

MRI and that I should stay over night.
The nurse comes in and gives me the discharge papers, the doctor heard

her and left. What the hell?? I told the nurse what he just said to me and
she just shook her head. After a few hours at home and some aspirins and the pain is gone. The blood pressure is back to normal
Is somebody padding the bill? Im pretty sure this final bill alone will be over 10 thousands bucks. Ill let you know later.

Wow, Davey...hope you're okay and it was just a pulled muscle. I was thinking pancreas when you said that location. I don't know, but I thought most heart attack pain was in the chest area, not below the ribs. They're good at padding the bill...curious to see the final damage. Take care! :love_heart:

Glad everything's ok. This sounds exactly what I went through up north last summer. No one could agree what was going on with me either. One dr. Wanted to keep me overnight and one dr. said it's not necessary.
Anyway they did find what they call an A-fib. Now on medication. Good luck to you.

Davey, glad you're okay. :encouragement:

I think they were doing the ol' "Good Doctor / Bad Doctor" routine on you.

I agree with Sea, re: it sounded a little low to be a heart attack. I can imagine that you wouldn't want to take any chances, though.

DAVEY: I had a similar thing, & once I had the xray done they found I had torn a RIB CARTILAGE.
...........very painful & as you say feels like a heart attack. I am glad you are O/K take it easy mate!

The cardologist pointed to the breast bone is where the heart, I always thought it was to the left of the breast bone.
But whatta I know.

Since the hospital couldnt give me any pain medician they put on a patch called morphine patch but it didnt do a damn thing to stop the pain.

I don't know, but I thought most heart attack pain was in the chest area,

No Mine was in my back up high
And a sore feeling low in middle of chest
Left arm slightly weak with a ytiny tingle in my 3rd finger

Pain in back got worse in emergency so they kept giving me morphine injections

Davey Jones, I so glad this didn't turn out to be something serious. WHEW!

Phantom, I guess those of us who had heart attacks and live to tell about them, each experienced something different.
I had no pain at all when I had mine.
From head to toe every fiber of my being told me, in a very alarming way, that something was wrong, but there was no pain whatsoever.
Physically I had turned white as a sheet and I felt incredibly weak.
I felt extremely anxious.
I was confused about why I felt this way.
I am normally a person who needs to be dragged to the doctor. I HATE needles.
I woke my husband and told him to get me to the hospital.
That is how completely alarmed I was by the overwhelming "something's wrong" feeling I had.
I spent 8 days in the hospital.
I had had a heart attack. There were 2 blockages.
Got 2 stents to open them.

Think I had a slight heart attack 2 weeks prior
Was liftin/moving furniture from garage to inside home
I fely out of breath and heart was pounding.I thought I was not in condition.I was on my own at the time too as my daughter was away over 300mile away visiting my wife in hospital (Melbourne)
I took a valium (have one at night for muscle relaxent) and rested in recliner.Came good after a while
A week latter I woke up in bed I had like butterflies in stomache and sorness Not pain in lower chest
I thought just a cramp so walked around room for a while and it went
Couple of days latter same feeling while resting in recliner but this time I vomited and had that feeling in finger
This was on a Saturday.I wasn't going to tell my wife as she had a to go to Melbourne again on Monday and didn't want to worry her.I planned on seeing my GP when she was away
I told my daughter and she dobbed on me.Called ambulance. They though just indijestion but took me to hospital just to check.
Was transfered from Wodonga Hospital via air where I had two stents placed (angiogram through arm)
Follow up ECG needed two more stents This time through groin
All went ok untill removal of angiogram tube when I started bleeding
I had two nurses taking turns pushing their full weight on groin for 20 min.
Not able to move my back problem started up.Staff took pity on me and made arrangments to fly me home rather than in back of ambulance

My sister had heart attack and she got pain in her jaw

This could be interesting thread seeing how heart attack effects different ways ,,,,,,,,,,,May save someones life. Who knows ?????????

All the warning signs here..http://www.heartattackfacts.org.au/warning-signs/ its serious so you really need
to check them out ..Davy just as well you got checked as now you know... that your ok.. maybe they did something
to you when you had your cataracts done.. I had a friend who woke up after having her cataracts done with a sore jaw..
turns out they moved her from table to table and banged her jaw as she had a nasty bruise and in time had to have surgery
to fix her jaw up.. you just never know what happens when your out to it.. but am ever so glad your ok..high blood pressure can rise if your worried about any thing too so maybe you were a little uptight over that pain..and that also am glad its gone..
take care.. i`m happy all turned out right for you..

Very informative Rainee

I can't help think that seeing as this occured after your surgery that there is a link. But they just didn't get a clear cut answer and you were left frustrated. It happens

I once went in for stomach pains not realizing it was my appendix going. They misdiagnosed it and I had two internals before finally they gave me a scan. The appendix was starting to leak so I was rushed into surgery and paid the price for the delay with a week in the hospital and excruiating pain.

They miss the mark many a time that's for sure.

But thank God you're here to tell the tale. Sometimes a misdiagnosis results in deaths.

Funny you mention that, I was thinking the same thing to get a lawyer to make $$millions sueing them.

The nurse at the hospital said if the patch is too close to the pain,it only makes it worst. She put mine on the shoulder after I said "the pains down here".

Davey: I was on morphine patches. My doctor gave me 5mg patch for first week, 10mg patch for the second. He then asked if I felt any relief. he then put me on 20mg for two weeks,
...........Finally i was placed on 25mg & I stayed on this for 4 months. During this time I wasn't feeling that great & finally I had to reverse the process to wean myself of the morphine.
........... My doctor was great he explained the process of gradually getting me on the correct dosage, & that I could have a reaction once I had been on the Morphine, (some people do).
...........He then gradually weaned me off the drug as I said before! I HAVE CHRONIC ARTHRITIS THROUGH MY SPINE
...........The patch that you was on might not have been strong enough & it generally takes a couple of weeks before you feel the full effect!!
