This whole gender identification thing is going too far, for me!

How about considering the possibility of species-fluidity? Let's say a person is convinced he is really a horse trapped in a human body. He goes out in public stark naked (horses don't wear clothes!) and gallops around on all fours, whinnying and snorting, eating only oats out of a feed bag?

Would we say he has a right to be any species he chooses, and do our best to accommodate his choice? Or would we say he is just, er, nuts?

There have been a few people who had surgery to look like a cat, here's one of them in the link. I adore cats and have a few and think they are beautiful, but I'm sane enough not to aspire to look like them. I think that people who want to be their opposite sex are just mentallly unbalanced and the more that do it inspire more people to do it. If it's their money it's fine with me, but I resent my tax dollars paying for sex reassignment in the military, THAT should not be allowed.

Wouldnt bother me as long as it he didn’t expect me to call him Horsey, give him any special treatment, didn’t cost the tax payer any money and didn’t use the next cubicle to me in changing room and toilets !

I am not religious at all, but have done some reading about religions because I'm curious. In the Christian bible I vaguely remember that in Genesis God decided that he was unhappy with his creation and decided to wipe out the humans he had created and started all over with our current human species. Humans are now getting so freakish that I think it's high time for God to do another do-over.

PVC,

So if I understand you, because you dislike different genders you would perfer to kill all humans? You might need a therapist-quickly. Read more of the bible, lol, instead of just the Old Testament. "God", whichever one you refer to, gave humans free will to do what they will. So if they want to change their gender-it is fine with me and God.

I also think "God" has other things to deal with besides gender change, how about climate change?

Wren,

In our repressed society, as long as the person who wanted to be a horse covered the parts no one wants to see-what would be the harm?

As far as using the stall in the bathroom next to me, why not? I know of no species on earth that does not have to potty. What goes in, comes out. There are several societies where they do not have seperate bathrooms.

I have edited the objectional sentence out.

Also said in bad taste after New Zealand.

What does the New Zealand slaughter have anything to do with mentally unstable people who want to become freaks of nature? There are two sexes in nature, male and female, anything other is an aberration plain and simple. I have my opinion and you have your opinion, I have no intention of arguing any further.

PVC,

I wasn't arguing, I was giving my opinion on the state of your mental health based on your post. "See something, say something" is the word of the day. If you don"t understand the connection between mass killings and your wanting "God" to wipe out the human race-a therapist can explain it to you.

A therapist can also help you out with the name calling and judgmental attitude. Have you ever considered you might be a "mentally unstable" person. I have. No insult meant, just trying to get you to consider you might need some help. Remember the bible says "Judge not, less you be Judged". Lol, or something like that, I am not an expert.

IMO, this statement has nothing to do with the topic.

:iagree:

Off topic, perhaps. But I was responding to someone who mentioned God, the bible, ending the human race, and now calling a segment of our population freaks, as this person refers to people who are the topic of this thread. The red flags are flying. I think the comparison was justified. But I edited it out due to the objections of other members.

I am always agreeable to having any of my posts removed, but I stand by what I said. I apologize to anyone who was offended.

Aneeda, I don't need an expensive therapist to tell me who or what I am. I know EXACTLY my good traits and bad traits and I don't apologize for any of them or wish to change, so going to a therapist would be wasted money. I TOLERATE people that I don't agree with or approve of and I would NEVER harm them like that white supremacist in NZ, but I don't feel the need to be their friends or be forced by society to agree with their opinions or lifestyle, ''political correctness'' be damned.

I enjoy watching/listening to Judge Mathis in his court T V show. But when he goes on about people who think negatively about homosexuality as they're being homophobic--huh? You disagree that homosexuality is fine and so he labels you homophobic? How in the world does that make you homophobic?. Homosexual sexual acts are definitely NOT fine, but I guess that's not a subject to be faced, talked about, and no reason to think negatively about homosexuality.
Anyway, does not BIGOTRY fit Judge Mathis on this subject? Bigotry vs homophobic...............

Maybe their sexual acts are not your business, Elsie, as long as those involved are at the age of consent. Sounds homophobic to me. Why would you even want to discuss it anyway?

I used to get this cashier at the grocery store, who was a very fast and efficient youngish male with a crewcut. I never talk to cashiers because I am almost deaf. One day I and my chatty daughter were at the checkout with this cashier and aterwards she told me ''he'' was a she, had a softer voice and she had seen her coming out of the women's room. I was totally shocked and next time I really looked and I couldn't even see ANY outline of a breast.

With all the labels about different sexual orientations, someday this will be a world without males or females. Gone are the days when homosexuals were the subtle ''confirmed bachelor'', now it's ''let it all hang out''.

If it's still there.......

I have always been of the opinion that whatever happens in the bedrooms of consenting adults is none of my business unless I am one of the participants. Why get all riled up about other people's sexual preferences?

Whatever sexual orientation people have is certainly their own business, and no one has the right to pass any judgement. (I do pass judgement, however, on those who refer to the Old Testament as the
"Christian Bible." If you are that much of a believer, you should know that the story of Noah and the flood was in the Jewish Bible, written long before Jesus was born.)

My own problem with this is entirely with pronouns. I just read a letter to Carolyn Hax in today's paper, referring to a "gender queer" person (whatever that means) as "they" throughout the letter. The letter writer said this individual was born female but wanted to be referred to as "they" or "he." But the letter writer kept forgetting, and sometimes slipped into using "she." Carolyn Hax said that it just takes practice. But I think it's more than that. The pronouns definitely present a problem. Referring to a single person as "they" seems pretty weird to me.

Well, like it or not, there are those folks that will "pass judgement" on different things that basically society doesn't like and/or understand. Christians, as well as other religions will do this. Not everyone, but good majority.

Passing personal judgement is one thing. Passing laws is another. Discrimination in public accommodation is illegal in most instances.

Sunny, I never said I was a believer, here's my quote = "I am not religious at all, but have done some reading about religions because I'm curious". Jesus was born and raised Jewish, didn't like some aspects of the religion, started his own faith, and transformed the angry and vengeful god of the Jews into a kind and all forgiving god of Jesus that surprisingly allowed humans to have free will. So, that's how the New Testament was born, it is actually a ''spinoff'' of the Old Testament. Sorry for the error in labeling. Islam is also a spinoff of the Jew's Old Testament, and yet how different all three religions are.
