His surname is Asian of Far Eastern origins, usually Chinese, Korean, or Taiwanese. And his appearance indicates Asian. Not that there's anything wrong with that. He's just not White.why wouldn't he be ?

I don't think of them as other than white.. .. is it just me then ?His surname is Asian of Far Eastern origins, usually Chinese, Korean, or Taiwanese. And his appearance indicates Asian. On documents and forms where you're asked to check a box in the list of races, "Asian" and "White" are separate boxes.see.. altho' technically we're told Orientals are yellow.. I don't think of them as other than white.. .. is it just me then ?
yes but Asian..at least in this country refers to the Indian Continent as wellOn documents and forms where you're asked to check a box in the list of races, "Asian" and "White" are separate boxes.
It does here, too. Some of our forms also have a box labeled "Southeast Asian", meaning Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, etc., but I don't think that's very helpful.yes but Asian..at least in this country refers to the Indian Continent as well
Possibly. But I doubt it.In all fairness to the author, race may have been mentioned because of the disproportionate number of US police officers killed by Blacks who comprise roughly 13% of the US population and 41% of the killers of police officers.
“From 1980 to 2013, there were 2,269 officers killed in felonious incidents, and 2,896 offenders. The racial breakdown of offenders over the 33-year period was on par with the 10-year period: 52 percent were white, and 41 percent were black.”

we weren't disputing that he was Asian.. the dispute was whether he would be described as white.. and I say Yes..
Here we categorize Asians, no matter where from on the continent as people of color.we weren't disputing that he was Asian.. the dispute was whether he would be described as white.. and I say Yes..
? OK.we weren't disputing that he was Asian.. the dispute was whether he would be described as white.. and I say Yes..
Which color? Here we categorize Asians, no matter where from on the continent as people of color.
That's all that is said. People of color meaning all people not White Americans. I hear this on the news, local & national, all the time.Which color?
I've never seen any Asians that were yellow, but some do have a darker skin tone, much like a native American...which had migrated from Asia.see.. altho' technically we're told Orientals are yellow.. I don't think of them as other than white.. .. is it just me then ?
not white Americans..?..well I'm sure they'd be very happy to know they're not White Americans..That's all that is said. People of color meaning all people not White Americans. I hear this on the news, local & national, all the time.
These categorizations are for purposes other than determining skin "color".It does here, too. Some of our forms also have a box labeled "Southeast Asian", meaning Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, etc., but I don't think that's very helpful.
I agree.. I cannot believe the murder of a policeman has descended into what his colour is ...poor man.. not for a minute could he have possibly imagined he would be the subject of this discussion on an internet forum.. May he R.I.P.. and I'm out of this thread..These categorizations are for purposes other than determining skin "color".
This is all too silly for me.
I thought we were having a civil, informative non-confrontational discussion...oh well, maybe it's just me that's delirious, the weather is beautiful, sunny but cool(for a frekin change!) and I'm in a perfect mood, where absolutely nothing can piss me off, despite having had going on 4 cups of coffee today...These categorizations are for purposes other than determining skin "color".

True enough, but that still pegs him as a target of racial hatred. His surname is Asian of Far Eastern origins, usually Chinese, Korean, or Taiwanese. And his appearance indicates Asian. Not that there's anything wrong with that. He's just not White.
