Tulsa mass shooting

I heard about this yesterday and was wondering how long it would be before it would be posted here. I think these mass shootings are becoming so commonplace that they are almost expected.

Two doctors, patient, and receptionist shot and killed.
Plus at least TEN others injured. It is not clear if the injuries were gun shot victims, or they were hurt trying to get out of the second floor where the shootings took place. 233 mass shooting incidents so far in 2022 in America. Is it any wonder why people in other countries are not going to the USA to visit ? Random acts of violence. JimB.

Them gun loving folks down south sure love their guns. They justify carrying arms according to the Second Amendment. All well and good but that Second Amendment was written in 1791, 231 years ago. In "them thar days" there be wolves and there be bears. A man needed to protect his livestock and his family. They did it with a single shot muzzle loader.

Advance the time to 2022. Gone are those bears and wolves and gone are the single shot muzzle loaders. Now, we got huge cities with a lot of crazies around. They buy guns that fire many bullets as fast as they can click their finger. Fear rules and no one is brave enough to make important changes

If you ask me, the slaughter will continue until finally "the people" get sick and tired of the fear of going outside and the constant barrage of mass killing news. If you ask me, "our thoughts and prayers" for those victims means absolutely nothing in my book. What is needed is change and it's not coming.

Oh, if case your interested and have nothing to do, the National Rifle Association is holding it's annual meeting in Houston, Texas this very weekend. They will try to put as many guns in the hands of Americans as possible. Guns will be stroked and admired and held aloft in triumph.

This case doesn't appear to involve a "Gun-Loving Person"

One theory about the original intention of the 2nd Amendment was that southern plantation owners were afraid they wouldn't be able to control their slaves if they couldn't own guns, so it was put in there as an allurement to get southern states to sign onto the Constitution. And that's why it's worded so weirdly. It's possible.

OMG...now people are not even safe in hospitals. It's bad enough we aren't safe in schools, churches, synagogues and mosques, as well as malls, retail establishments, restaurants and city streets. Let's not forget the snipers and road rage folks targeting people driving along in their cars, which again have killed or injured too many children. This country is in a very, very sad state of affairs.

I've been saying prayers for the victims, their families and friends. Politicians and lawmakers need to get their acts together because they CAN do more than offer prayers!

This "THEORY" was written by someone who has no respect or honor for the Constitution of the United States.
Probably not best to perpetrate it further, as it is quite obviously a falsity.
It's up to Americans to uphold and fight to protect our Constitutional amendments.
IMO
I know you all realize killings can be performed by varied weapons and guns are only a weapon of choice.
The gun doesn't do the killing. The person does the killing.
This is a mental health issue.

Well, if you're going to get shot, it might as well be in a hospital.

Okay, bad joke. But this world at the present moment is a bad joke.

Yes, Gaer, we all know the person does the killing. The person with the gun. No one thinks the gun walked out on its own and started killing people. Why keep repeating this nonsense?

Without the gun, the person would be unable to do mass killing, certainly not on the scale that's being done now. Banning assault rifles would not turn everyone into a good person who means no harm. But they would be unable to go into a public place and start killing that many people in a few seconds. It's the gun that enables that.

What is there that's so hard for you to understand about this? There is absolutely no reason on God's earth for an ordinary civilian to own one of those weapons. They are used only to murder other people.

We really need to re-write the constitution, since the courts seem to think that having an amendment about needing a "well regulated militia" means letting any nut-case have assault weapons, the constitution should be redone in more specific language. What about a small nuclear device, do we let everyone carry those around? I think the courts are amazingly stupid.

He bought his AR-15 style rifle earlier that day. Had there been a "cool-off" period, he might have reconsidered.
Not with that kind of pain, couple with possible medical incompetence & apathy - which is rampant.
Been there. I posted about my dental adventure previously; it could have cost me my life. It cost me 8 days in ICU with Sepsis.
"Four years ago a dentist did an incomplete & incompetent root canal that resulted in me spending several days in Intensive Care for Sepsis which could have been fatal. (Verified by another dentist who completed the root canal later). After I got out of the hospital, he phoned me, demanding $1,500.00 payment for his root canal, which I disputed the charge for with my credit card company. I told him, "If I were you, I'd quit while you're ahead & still breathing."

No, I would not consider killing him; I'll let his future victim do that.

It is indeed the time for a total change of the gun laws in this country. It is also time for a change in the way we treat people with mental illness. We still need to pay attention and help those that are suffering.

The laws must change for guns! If we do not also address the care of the mentally ill, they will find another way to make us aware of their pain. They will burn down buildings full of people, they will drive cars thru crowds, they will poison food or drink at large gatherings or even worse in our food supplies in the grocery store. Change to gun laws will not stop horrible mass murders from happening, it will just make the mentally ill find other ways. Everyone thinks the people who do these type of things are stupid, many of them are very intelligent, they are just mentally ill. They will find a way to kill if they desire.

Let us not forget our past serial killers, people have driven thru crowds, deaths by arson, drug tampering, anthrax and mail bombers, bombers of federal buildings. We can't think that only the change in gun laws will make everything stop.

The mentally ill must be treated and housed if needed for the safety of all.

There is something seriously wrong with the mental / emotional health in this country. We really need to think hard & long about re-opening the asylums.

In this most recent shooting, I wonder if the pain meds the guy was on might have affected his mental state ?

{sigh} as has been pointed out a zillion or two times, the 2nd amendment has nothing go do with bears or wolves or muskets. It was to protect the rights of the people against an over reaching government.
We just vote out over reaching and non performing governments.
We did this last month. We don't need to shoot them.

We have this right because it is written in our constitution.

Sounds good ........ You observe & follow your constitution and we'll follow & ours.

I'm not asking you just following the part unknown that you posted about.

I don't think the pain issue the man was suffering was investigated. How was his pain addressed? What was his mental state before & after surgery? Was there any indication that he would do something like this?

Speaking from experience spinal surgery is horribly painful. So much so that in my rehab the doc there prescribed 120 Oxy caps to be used as needed for pain. Of course I didn't use them all but I do remember not being exactly lucid at times. To this day I live with level 3 pain & wish I a more competent surgeon.

To Gaers point. Mental instability IMO is the main factor & yes multiple deaths can be achieved by other than use of a gun. For murder of another human being progression from stones to spears, to knives or swords to bow & arrow, to cross bow, to single shot muskets to multiple shot pistols & rifles to machine guns. Take away the ability to kill quickly with a gun and will that stop a mentally disturbed person intent on killing one or many? I have palm tree lined beach property for sale at the south pole if anyone thinks that will stop that person.

Once again, the argument about mental illness is raised.
Do Americans think that mental illness is not a problem in other countries?
