U.S.A. mom in Germany explains socioeconomic differences

More idiocy touting universal healthcare. 🙄🙄🙄
Idiocy indeed. Who in their right mind would want universal healthcare?

Well, I would actually.

Australia has universal healthcare called Medicare paid for by a small levy on income. We also have private health insurance for those who want it and can afford it. I am one of the latter.

When I go to the GP I pay nothing because he bulk bills Medicare. When I go into a private hospital my insurance covers all hospital costs. I could elect to go to a public hospital as a public patient and Medicare would cover the full cost of my stay. In the private hospital the surgeon's fees are paid up front with rebates from Medicare and my health fund. There is usually a gap payment that I need to pay but not always. Some specialists bulk bill pensioners which means all medical costs are covered.

And then there is the pharmaceutical benefits scheme that ensures that prescription drugs are affordable, even to low income earners. The total amount per year is capped ensuring that the chronically sick are not overburdened. The cap is per household which means that larger families can afford medicine for their children.

Please don't tell me that you are disgusted by the Australian system of universal healthcare.

Paco...She's promoting her own propaganda about her opinion that things are unfair & worked into that, that she isn't the only victim. She's figured out how to get paid for saying it & IMO, is fleecing people out of money who drank her kool-aid. If you believe it, fine, it's your right. I don't buy it & I don't think I'm the only one.

She didn't like it here because she was unable to get more freebies so she left & that was her right. She should stay where she think it's better for her. She can add her own ideas to theirs.

I don't think every successful person is a 'gold digger' either & I certainly wouldn't lump everyone in the same category.

As far as people who started businesses on their own & made money; well they worked for it. I'm talking about the Mom & Pop businesses & companies which I fully support. They aren't pocketing everything for themselves. They have to spend money to make money & the payout is for employee wages, benefits, utilities, rent/mortgage, taxes & other items.

And the $30/hour welder is only part of the price of a product. Included in the $200 product is the cost of materials, shipping/handling to receive/ship, electric used for production, cost of equipment needed to make the product & I know I'm leaving out other manufacturing costs. And don't forget the benefits that isn't included in the hourly wage that employers are paying. When all is said & done, some of these employers aren't making much profit.

You see capitalism different than I do. I don't view myself as a victim, nor do I think we are being 'farmed' to serve the wealthy. I can choose who I work for & where. If someone doesn't want to work because of being "used", that's just a BS excuse for being shiftless & lazy.

I'm not attacking the messenger, I'm just not impressed with her message & don't buy into it. Yes, some things need to be fixed, but I don't think you would agree on how to go about it. We are going to agree to disagree on many things that you believe to be true.

Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
Christian Bible, King James version, Matthew 19:21

(Somehow I don't think Jesus was a lover of unregulated capitalism, uh uh, not at all.)

A just-world theory posits that the world is just. People get what they deserve. If you believe that the world is fair, you explain or rationalize away injustice, usually by blaming the victim…Neoclassical economics, [the U.S.’s] principal source of policy norms, is a just-world theory…So, [according to the theory,] everyone gets what he or she deserves, either for his or her effort or for his or her property. No one asks how he or she got this property. And if they don’t have it, they probably don’t deserve it. The point about just-world theory is not that it dispenses justice, but that it provides a warrant for inflicting pain.

All I can say is that I believe our healthcare system could be much, much better than what we have now. It really needs a complete overhaul and made available to everyone, no matter of a person’s financial standing.

One of the problem with the U.S. is that we spend way too much money aiding other countries. Let’s be greed for just a few years and take care of ourselves for a change.

I heard on the BBC news that the U.S. has given approximately $112 billion to Ukraine while Europe has only given a fraction of that amount. We are stuck in another war that will again deplete our budget and put us deeper into the red. Just think what we could have done with that $112 billion dollars. Maybe rework our healthcare network, or help the homeless situation, or give our kids a break on college tuition.

We are the world’s police department while our own country has become a lawless nation in some areas. We pay other countries to support their war. We pay way too much to W.H.O. and also to NATO. We pay everyone else’s bills and fair share. We have become the world’s piggy bank. There is no way we can support the millions of illegals that have entered our country without adding to our debt. Every penny we give to Ukraine and spend on the illegals is borrowed money. In case you haven’t been keeping track, we struggle each month to pay just the interest on our debt. https://www.cnn.com/2023/02/14/politics/interest-payments-federal-debt/index.html#:~:text=Higher%20interest%20payment%20in%20coming%20years&text=That's%20up%20from%20the%20record,average%2C%20according%20to%20the%20foundation.

And, no one really cares. We just complain and keep electing the same old fools who have become rich by being corrupt. Oligarchs here in the U.S. sit back and laugh at the working men and women who are the people that pays the bills in this country. Whatever happened to our country? Why have we sunk so low that even China that once was considered a third world country now has the largest economy in the world? We just keep spinning our wheels. Someday, this country will be taken over. Not in our lifetime, but someday.
