I guess I am a bit ambivalent. I think banning the Bible is ridiculous, as was banning classical art works that show nudity. All of that is just silly. What do YOU think about this, @Alligatorob?
Actually been done, they are comparable, but the Quran is much lower.the book of Mormon has never replaced the Bible - just do a body count!
I don't know, it seems to me that our religious books, the Bible, Quran, Torah, Veda, etc. should be in many libraries. I think they are an important part of our history and civilization. Hard to deny believe any of them or not. But elementary schools maybe not, however having them in those libraries may be less a problem than the politics of banning. The Bible has no place at all in a public school unless there is a high school course on religion. Banned? Should never have been there in the first place.
Yep, libraries are full of rarely read books. Not to worry most people do not care. 33% of America says it has never read the Bible, but than 33% say they have never read a book after high school. One report says we read four books a year on average, while 17% say they read no books.
Yep, should we ban books that talk about slavery? Or the European colonization of the Americas? Or the Roman Empire... the list goes on. Hard to meaningfully teach those things without some reference to "vulgarity and violence".You really can't gripe about the Bible being banned when the same criteria bans Tom Sawyer
